just got back, not a single crappie, and I got snagged on my first cast with the fuzz-e and my line snapped AND I lost the front half of my ultralight

I only caught a bluegill and a bass.. but at least the weather was nice.. 55 and falling leaves, a nice crisp autumn scent in the air

That one was caught trolling a Believer set on the deep eye coming out of 25' of water into 10' - 14' of water.

yup, usually ................. more musky specific heavier tackle to get the musky in faster to lessen the stress on it and prevent break offs leaving lures in their mouths which ends up killing it

They're pretty much considered to be 'Trash Fish' in the U.S. Except for the
genetically engineered sterile Triploid Grass Carp that is used to control
nuisance weeds in recreation lakes.

Do you fish for them like the Match fishing competitions in the U.K.?
i.e. Long rods with light line, chumming, etc.

Grass carp are more than "trash fish," they're considered an invasive species in most places.

Carp are trash/rough/coarse fish, but they're starting to get a reputation for being game fighters and challenging to hook (at least on the fly, where they've got the nickname "golden bone" for their similarities to flatsfishing for bones).

I still think they're disguisting to touch, but they are awesome fighters on spinning tackle.. I haven't tried to pick one up on a fly rod yet.

Best way to prepare them is to filet them, soak them in milk, then lay them on a wood board, cook til they turn white and flakey. You just remove the filet from the board, throw it away and eat the board.

yeah I've heard it a hundred times, but I have also heard they are delicacies in some parts of the world, and that some people do eat them and say that they are great. I have also heard that they are actually being harvested in some parts of this coutry and being served as fish sticks and other processed fish products.

I tired a few times to get a carp on the fly and found it extremely hard. If anyone has any techniques post them up.

I'm Macedonian so i've tried carp before, not that great, but i know some who love the stuff. I just fish it for the sport and humanly dispatch it once caught. Our natives are more important, will post a pic below of an example of one.

There are some diehard carp anglers who do follow the methods found in the uk, i just use corn and bread, sometimes weighted or unweighted and does the job.

I've got a friend who catches carp on fly, i think he makes imitation bread or corn flies to catch carp, not too sure, but i've seen carp eat plastic corn so it can't be too hard.

Below is a pic of my dad with a Golden Perch (Macquaria ambigua) i caught at a dam. Roughly 5kg and 60cm they don't fight that hard when caught from this dam but there are other dams in Aus where they put up a great fight.

They grow up to 20kg but i've rarely seen one go above 10kg, okay eating when they're smaller but at this size they're full of fat. Not good, best to catch, take a pic and release. They kinda look like a big crappie.

Yeah probably could, but thats not the crown jewel of Australian freshwater natives. The Murray Cod is an excellent fish both in terms of looks, eating quality and sporting nature. They are known to grow up to 1.8-2m in length with a weight of over 100kg or 220lbs.

Don't have any pics but a google search should reveal some results
