Well I guess I'm on a solo mission tomorrow. Is everyone busy doing something????

Well the plan was Couchiching but seeing as how I'm alone I don't know where I'm going. Guess I'll start the truck with the boat in tow and see where I end up. Got the camera with me anyways in case I find that illusive 8 pound bucket.

You river guys kill me, it's not the fight it's the bite.

I could send you to the small lake where this 6.5lb'r come from:

Probably headed into Toronto with the family. I'll be stopping at JB's on my way through.

I don't fish in puddles. That is a pig of a fish though.

My personal best is a 7.2 pound bucket I thumped on a spinner bait a few years back on the French River. My old man got a 7.1 pound smallie in the Otanabee River a couple of years ago, unfortunately we got no pics. I'm still after the mighty 8, I know they're out there.

Well my weekend didn't go as planned, had to work yesterday and today which is really irritating but it's for the greater good.........I think.

Saturday morning hopped in the truck and just started driving, for some unknown reason the road led to Scumbog. I loved this lake at one time so I figured why not. I managed just 1 fish in the first 4 hours but it was a pig. A bucket from under a dock almost 6 pounds so I'm not complaining. I piled up a bunch of smaller fish in the afternoon and boated a smallie around 4 pounds and lost another around 5, but that's fishing I guess.

Well I'm making plans for next weekend so they to can be ruined by work.

I'd be out in Lake O trolling river mouths for fresh chinnies..

With the lack of rain, those fish will be STACKED!!!

I think it's off to Rice tomorrow. Unless of course I get inspired between now and then (Simcoe, Couchaching, Bay of Quinte)

Well I couldn't get my lazy, over worked ass out of bed this morning so I dumped the tub into Scugog again (40 minute drive) with my little man riding shotgun. I have fished this lake so many times I am almost sick of it.
Instead of jamming ourselves into the muck we decided on a smallmouth tour. On the way we stopped to say hello to Shawn B and company trolling for musky (how'd you make out?).
We boated some smaller fish and then found a few that we were after. I got one over 4 pounds and my son got one over 5! We boated 3 more in the 4 to 5 pound range which made for a good day. No camera naturally just a cell phone so needless to say the pics turned out sh.t.

Here's my little guy with his monster. He's one happy boy. I'm feeling the shame for forgetting the camera.

Surprised to see you out there! Good to hear that you and your little partner had a good time getting into some larger smallies. We fished some new water and managed to lose a couple and boat a couple, pics are coming.

Fishing some new water yesterday bajaguy managed to get a smaller 35"? up to the boat where it spit the hooks sometime in the early afternoon. We continued to poke around and headed back to our usual spot with no luck so we headed into shore for a break. Returning out on the water we made the decision to head back to where the first fish was lost. I had a large muskie on that I fought for a couple of minutes, it took a run at me and I didn't get the slack line reeled up fast enough as it was gone when I did get the line tight. Not even an hour later on the same spot bajaguy boated a nice 44" and then the next pass right after bajaguy's went back in the water the rod went off again and I boated a 30" musky that squirmed out of my hands before the camera came out.

    bajaguy's 44"

You ever go up the Scugog river near Lindsay and see the guy's boathouse with all the musky heads nailed to it? There must be upwards of 250! Doesn't smell too pretty.

Dan, I've been there with Danny 4 times now, for about 4 hours each time, skunked! Under the bridge, on the pier, etc. They were jumping all over the place in the channel yesterday around 630-7, just before dark, once it got dark, nothing. They seem to be jumping at the dam all night.

Did see quite a few gar pike and one huge one that wasn't easily spooked hanging around under the green bridge all night.

When I was a kid, I had dyslexia. I used to write about it in my dairy.

Yea, and I've also seen them in sugarloaf marina in the springtime in the big shallow pond (port colborne). Right around dusk you start seeing the noses coming out of the water. Very easily spooked and skittish in there but I have a feeling they are less spooked in port dalhousie simply due to the heavy current.
