      I've got an '01.5 Passat V6 (ATQ) 4 Motion

It keeps throwing a CEL when cruising on the highway. It'll feel like a small studder then it comes on. Happens once ever other day for like 5-10 secs max.

      Vag-com reads:

      17584 P1176 035
      O2 Correction Behind Catalyst B1
      Control limit reached

I dont want to just throw an O2 sensor in it and hope for the best.... but does that code mean it could be anything else?

      Thanks for your help,
      Jeff

Checked the intake already.... didnt find leaks and the recalls have been done.

i guess i have to test all the o2's. I'll hook it up next week at work and see what it says.

      Thanks.

Sorry to bring back an old thread but I have identical issues and was wondering if you ever got it tracked down.

Over the past months it has been getting worse. Under heavy load/full throttle I get an obvious surge/bucking. If I hold the gas down the bucking continues and I can even sometimes get a random cylinder misfire.

Bucking issue doesn't happen all the time but it has been slowly increasing like I said.

Scan with VAG-Com revealed p1176. I am currently out of town and VAG-less so I have yet to log anything.

This is my first time getting the p1176 code. I used to have the bucking problem but never got a code for it.

So if you got anywhere I would love to know.

ok so techs at work (vw dealer) suggested i change the B1 S2 O2 sensor (Passenger side rear o2)

Did that and it came back on 2 days later (like it always does when i clear the code)

      Theres a waste of 2hrs and $160

Are you saying that fixing the leak solved your problem?
