    Thread: The unOFFICAL OLYMPUS Thread

    1. 10-05-2009 11:06 PM #141
lol. Fine...the house kept me busy then!!! I had to fix my deck (redo the stairs), finish my barn electrical and ramp, re-do the engine in the snow blower to get it ready for winter, hahaha!!!

I think I'm one of the few who actually use the E1 in bad weather. It's great, people look at you sooo weird when they see a big camera getting soaked!!!

The PEN seems much better at WB control than the E1 is with legacy lenses.

I'm talking Oly announcements, new Ex + lenses, fingers crossed, not that I'm buying soon, just want to see them take out the recent canikon's...

    7. 10-06-2009 10:59 PM #147
They're gonna announce the new pro body???? I hope they finally announce that damn 100mm macro and some long f4 telephotos. 300 or 400 f/4 would be freaking awesome. Weather sealed or not, I would probably end up getting one!!

I don't think Oly would do this. They already have the 300 f2.8, which people are eating up. The lens is amazing

A 400 f4 prime would be sweet though. I would look into that for sure

Oly needs to come out with a bunch of primes anyway. The OM line of Zuiko primes was HUGE, why not make a digital line...?

They need more lenses for under $1000, seriously. That's my biggest irk.

      My wishlist:

      40mm f1.4 for $300 USD
      100mm f3.5 for $600 USD
      150mm f4 for $800 USD

However their lens sales really depend on how successful they are to push out their flagship/pro models. More pro bodies get sold, bigger the demand for lenses....

I read rumours of the FujiFilm EXR sensor as being the next 4/3rds sensor down the road, if so......I'm sold. its like the new Fujifilm S6Pro...with ridiculous DR!

honestly, if the new E-# doesn't have
      - HD video with 720p and 1080p, 24/30/60 video modes
      - more DR
      - Decent and printable 3200iso and an okay 6400iso
      - at least 6-8fps

I'm leaving.....except I'll probably pick up a E-3/E-30 when they hit $400....just for fun but not for work.

Have you guys seen the 7D? The interface is like Olympus but double the improvement!

I think any prime by Zuiko faster than f2 would be great. I don't know why they are letting Sigma get all the glory...

Olympus is slacking for sure when it comes to pro series bodies. The new E-# will be pretty good and I'm sure it will have most of what you are looking for. I also cannot wait until it comes out to grab an E-3.

Borrowed a Leica Elmarit R 35mm f2.8. Very contrasty and smoooooth. Wish it was F2 to make it brighter/easier to focus.

Inspired by Valfaw's moon shot, I tried one myself...

      150mm @ f5.6 using the 40-150mm f4.0-5.6 on an E-620

nice. May I ask how much one of those go for?

    21. 10-13-2009 12:42 PM #161
I borrowed it, there's one on ebay starting at $500 CDN but I'm guessing it'll end up $600-800.

Cheapest is the early 50mm f2 Summilux, I think for about $300 but gives you 100mm f2 unless you like/want that range.

the 50mm was the kit lens that came with R series SLR's.

Right on. I read the reviews, but was looking for some real world examples. I missed one on ebay for 140$. All the other ones I see are like 200-300$

I haven't gotten to shoot much, but here's some food I've been cookin lately -

White balance is off on all of them, finally figured out how to set custom (whoohoo!)

I hate the dof on this - tried again but still have to get them off the camera.

I don't think the WB is off at all. The plates and cheese both look white on my screen, so I think you are good

What were you going for in that second pic? Were you trying to get more of the frame in focus?

Love that last one! Did you make all this yourself? Looks yummy

Just bought a used Olympus E-500 with the two kit lens. WOW (I've been shooting with a 2004 Fuji FinePix S5000) and need more shutter time on this camera, very kewl.

The quest is on for legacy OM and new Zukio glass ;-)

      E-500
      14-42mm Zukio 3.5-5.6 kit
      40-150mm Zukio 4-5.6 kit

Last weekend up at the BMWCCA Oktoberfast event at Stowe, Vermont. It was raining, cold and drizzly in the morning, cleared up in the afternoon. Paul Boisvert was there shooting for Best of Burlington mag, Nikon 300D. We both had fun.

You should see this 1972 2002 / M2 - OMG... E30 S14 engine, EVO airbox, M6 rear seats, complete redo in the rear suspension, no money spared resto-mod. Very impressive. There was a story on this in Aug 09 BMWCCA Roundel. Sick car.

Here are some more photos this last week. Man this Oly E-500 is fun!

40-150mm full zoom, really low light, shooting around 5.6 @ 100. I got lucky on this shot.

      14-42mm (@42mm, 25cm distance, not bad bokeh for 5.6)

40-150mm, full zoom. Again low light hand held.
