I wanted the EC14 for more reach (since I guess you lose some focuising ability with the EC20 and the 50-200mm + 2 stops of light instead of 1).
I would most likely sell my E1 and get another body if I were to go that route. Probably the E3 would be the way I went (for the weather sealing)

Well, since you already have a good start on lenses, I would personally upgrade to the E-3. You could crop to get the desired frame for now and down the road get the EC14 (which you are right, you do lose some IQ and light with the EC20)
You could always save a little more and just buy the E3 outright. That way you have the E1 as a backup or as a second body for a smaller/faster lens. I plan to buy an E3 within the next year or so (the price will drop when the new E? comes out) and keep the E-510 as a second body for my 50mm f2.

Keep the E1 for sealed and grab a e620 for sensor gains...
I was going to opt for a e620 but I wanted the newest sensor to go with my E1 which meant the PEN... So now I have bookends, pair of E1's and a PEN...
BTW - the PEN works nicely, but it would be more nicely with a flip screen I am realizing...

      Thanks dude.
Awesome pic with that 1.8. How does the PEN control exposure (metering) and white balance compared to the E1 with an MF lens? I had a hell of a time with WB with any MF lens on my E1.

bought new in 05 & shot one for 1.5 years, enjoyed it immensely and now my sister and her family enjoy it as it sat once I bought my E1's. Up to 400ISO OK good after that needs work to clean up. Out of camera jpegs are very good. very capable camera, dust reduction actually works.
kit lenses are solid the 40-150 being the better of the two but the 14-45 is very good. To get the most out of the kit lenses grab a FL36 min flash and preferably a FL50 for better power and recycle times.
here are a few E300 shots with the kit 14-45

It's a solid camera(build and performance wise) for short money...

between my e1's and PEN I am seriously wanting to get into older MF glass. I took picture's at my daughter's dance class over the wknd and was really impressed by the e1/50 f1.8 combo.
I shot the 50 on the PEN as well and can start to see what all the MF/PEN rage is all about...
seems your 50mm MF is put to good use as well...

I love my 50! Probably my favorite lens out of my collection. I was lucky to find someone on craigslist who was selling a bunch of OM gear and my 50 was included. I payed very little for everything and actually turned around and sold the rest for a profit.
You can get a 50mm along with an adapter for under $75. And once you have that adapter, you can look for other cheap OM lenses to play with. You really can't lose with OM Zuiko glass. It's awesome!

I had an f1.4 at one point. I found that the DOF was too narrow for me and it was pretty soft wide open. I found that is was most sharp at f2.

The glass does have a lot to do with it...

Thanks dude! That's with a 6 year old (almost 7) body!!!
The glass does make a huge difference. I had the kit stuff..but sold all of it for 2 lenses. And I'm happy.
Also, I am looking for an EC14. Know anyone?

I don't know anyone personally that has one for sale. Just keep looking online I guess...

people want $300 for it usually so the $349 doesn't sound "too" bad...

    21. 10-01-2009 01:38 AM #121

Brought my E-510 to two wedding video jobs for a few quick snaps.
I got the Eye Piece extender/magnifier...much better but still no good in low light...shame. Still need a bigger viewfinder for low light....
Awesome in daylight though. I'm pretty much bang on in focus with my minolta lenses.

yup. 350 aint bad for it, but they use UPS, and UPS charges about 130$ just for customs on an item of that value. If they would use USPS or Fedex, I would definetely go there!
