lepez, what body kit is that?![]()

custom made fiberglass widebody kit. front and rear bumpers are made from molds of mk2 gti bumpers. friend of mine has a shop where he does lots of fibreglass modifications.
same goes for the engine room. fiberglass panels that cover the original metalwork

sooper slick lepez. was going to ask bout the flairs. first thing i noticed. never seen them. knew the bumpers had something to do with mk2, but them flairs set it OFF man. killer. mean stance achievedlooks great. i'm a fan of "original" color, and yours wasnt bad, but the blue you went with suits it nicely. not real sure what to think about the "smooth engine bay inserts" but diggin it none the less.

forgot to mention as well- glad to see an 8V still there in the bay. but the oil dip stick should be changed, tho i understand why, i myself would like to see a bright orange or red OEM one, just to say HI this is where the oil is checkedbut the one you have chosen blends nicely and i believe that was your idea
also noticed in "final" a tan cover for the "top down" bit. did you do a tan top as well?

this one is the ISHT. so glad to see that you kept the character that was inherited (by purchasing this vw) and just slightly enhanced it. with suspension and rims and i'm sure other lil bits but over all not changing ALL of this caddys life story. thats what i likeand thats the idea behind mine. keep that character, and history, but just add lil nicely thought out touches. no need to over do it, thats why i LOVE MK1's. not much is really needed other then purchase

[QUOTE=thumper82;75746242] fiberglass inserts were chosen just because it was way easier then to start welding in metal plates... and it looks as good as metal welding... the top is plain black color
I'm well aware it won't be everybody's taste , the car is far from the original look with the new bodykit but I'm happy with the way it looks.
my current project is a mk1 caddy 1.6 diesel, but were are still sorting out the rusty bits so no pictures yet...

Thanks man, my intention is to keep it looking as original as possible. It was originally a farm truck, and all things considered its in pretty decent condition... I plan to fully restore it over time which will include a full re-spray of the original color (and the stripes will be re-done as well) and all the original bits will be going back on (bed rails, mud flaps, stainless trim etc.) the interior will be retrimmed and what-not, but in a different color. I also have a 1.9tdi (alh) that I'm collecting parts for to swap in. (that's the only major change that'll happen.)![]()

shortly after i picked it up,not in terrible shape. needed a rad support, some rust repair, and it was at least 4 different shades of white. ran a little rough, but really just needed a solid once over to be a decent driver.
recent shots. bodywork, paint, motor swap, turbo, rewrapped interior, etc etc etc
sorry for the iphone pics
