I am seriously contemplating an ABF bottom end with an AEB top end on R1 carbs. I have been searching far and wide for a dual downdraft mani for the right price as well, I want something that is period correct, if not I'll go with Roland Stanton, it seems that the South African's still appreciate the simplicity of carbs. They offered the Citi Golf with Carbs up until that model ended. I have a 1.8 carb'd head here, I believe it's like from an 03 or something. Kwabena told me they take off 50mm 16V Intakes and recycle them for the aluminum to put carbs on! that's awesome.

Got the oil cooler mounted today, it was a royal pain. I had to pull the bumper frame to get in the frame rails to tighten the bolts, also had to loosen the fender and the inner fender well cover to get the plastic ventilation ducting out of the way. Got the block off plate on too, still gotta get the freeze plug in and replace all the piping.

I pulled these out today and cleaned them off too.

Took her out for a long test drive after replacing the outer intermediate shaft bearing. But as it got dark I noticed my tail lights were not working. They only seem to work with the parking lights on, as soon as I hit the headlight switch they go out. ....Gonna replace the euro plate in front to read" The On Going Money Pit" in German......

Installed the high altitude chip from TT. Glad to have my throttle response back! Not to mention it doesn't smell like straight gas from the tail pipe. Based on the other cam chip i got from them, I seem to have a higher rev limiter!

[QUOTE=jackyltardvaark;76834595]Still is all the ragea set of sidedraftsand one rabbit I did a single down draft conversionWhich every one was a TON of fun. /QUOTE]

I had a 79 Rabbit with an 8V JH motor & downdraft Weber. The difference was night & day from the tired CIS to the SHORT intake length & big throat of that carb. Nothing beat that sound, either.

My brother's '77 had dual 2bbl sidedrafts that were even wicked-er.

All this was at sea level, though. So, probably CIS is way faster up here. Plus this was years ago.

Got busy this weekend. Starter decided to go out so I felt it was a good time to replace the worn clutch. While I was in there I went ahead and dropped in a 19mm swaybar and an AEG manifold I had hanging around. It makes some more noise, but still doesn't move too fast.

I like the AEG mani without the dust shield. Spliced in the dual fan plug end,i also replaced all the ends and connectors on the engine harness then ran the wiring the way I want it, I'm waiting on some heat resistant wrap a friend recommended. Also pulled off the alternator and bracket in prep for the ABF seep setup, tomorrow the water pump and crank pulley comes off. Got my new Euro rear bumper w/ the silver stripe and the new lower valence in from Germany, it's goin on tomorrow too, also put some new smoked fender turns on. Pulled the vacuum canister out of the d/s fender and two random wires from the bay through the firewall, I believe they were amp and alarm. Worked in the fuel line plumbing a bit til I hit a wall, had to order a few more fittings.

Ok, after wrestling with the braided lines and the AN fittings, I am 90% finished with my fuel feed. After getting it mocked up I need one more 90 AN to NPT. As well the inline is in the mail,i went with some local boys to Colorado, Votion Speed. I still have to fab up a mount for the FPR.

    Out with the old

    In with the new

I also got rid of the two extra lines coming out of the frame rail, I cut them back and capped them.
I got my fan shrouds back from the powdercoater, got both style of Passat 16V fans, slimline 11 blade and 4 blade. Couldn't make my mind up on the color so I got one black and one white. Got some 10.4mm Autotech plug wires comin for her too, with a set of mounting bolts for lower stress bar. The Moroso V/C should be done at the coater next week, that will go on with the schrick oil pan. Well see if I have the time or money to get the headliner done this season!

Timing belt time for the Passat. Unfortunately, one of the crank pulley bolts seized. What a PITA.

I got the fans back together today and cleaned the radiator fins out real good and flushed it. I'm gonna put the shroud on the rad and test fit, can't put it in yet gotta clean up the battery tray, as well I just ordered some wrap to finish up looming the wiring. Gotta figure out where To mount the new horns, most likely somewhere on the core support. She's coming together.

It's whatever you wanna get, they have all kinds, mine has a melt temp of like 443F, there's another that's flame retardant with a melt temp of 446F, you can only buy the flame retardant per 100ft, the other you can get by the ft. Harlan hooked me up on the link here it is.

After careful consideration I replumbed the oil cooler, it is much smoother now and I am happy with it, the hoses are unobstructed and the fans and rad will fit in there nicely I also got the FPR mounted now just do the other hose end and she is done, waiting on a hose barb end. Can't put the rad/fans and core support back in yet, waiting on my INA serp setup. Got my autotech 10.4mm plug wires and beru ultra x plugs in doin that right now, also gonna swap out coolant lines tonight hopefully.

Modified a subaru slim fan to work with my 1.8T swap into my Corrado. Worked out a lower rad hose solution but it is still not perfect, I may need to find a hard pipe to work as an in-between the rado radiator and the newer 1.8T engine. Started working on my intercooler tubing too. I am trying to use assorted boost tubing from an Audi 5000 5cyl turbo, tubes from my G60 and some stuff from the 1.8T.

Well the other coolant pipe I bought that was powder coated did not have the correct geometry so I took mine off cleaned it, sanded and primed it sanded it again and put 4 coats of high temp engine enamel on it and installed it. As well got the last lil bit of isht wrapped in the bay, started to install the INA serp kit and one of the studs twisted off so....waiting again. Worked on getting the fuel feed lines tightened up ready for final install also. Put some more hrs into the Schrick oil pan, 10hrs now, she's almost there.

Didn't get too much done today, had to drive to Salida to pickup a rear glass for my Jetta. I stripped these momo pedals, they were red, then baked them and enameled them as well I did the Schrick, same treatment. Let them cool for a few hrs and sanded the fins, looks nice!

Was gonna powdercoat the pan but I baked it like three times and it still sweated some oil out, so I went ahead and did It myself, he had problems with the Moroso VC he did for me too.

Got the Euro console all squared away today and put the final touches on it. Also put the Sparco's in, what a B they were, belt buckle that attaches to the inside rail of the Recaro Trophy's are no fun, but got them in, looks much nicer and more comfy.

Got the front bumper and lip on yesterday, also stripped another dual fan shroud and sprayed it. I'll get the rad and fans in today and get that plumbed, as well I'll get my roof rack on.
