The other one with lower RPM has to be manual trans.

well, short of checking it myself, i was informed it corrects speedometer error against GPS. I was hoping it might correct my tachometer vs speedometer, but it looks like these cars are all over the map, from 1900 to 2200 RPM at 70 MPH (on a side note, I have had a P0242 error message the last couple of days).

I do not...yet. I need one soon, so this may be a trigger for me to do it now instead of later.

I've been lurking here for awhile. I am part of the Audizine/Quattroworld crowd, but has been seriously thinking about a Candy White, 2009 Jetta Sportwagen SEL, with DSG, Votex body kit and these Audi A8L "Fat Five" wheels(18"x8.5" +45mm):

Today I received a letter from an attorney that seems to be trying to setup a class action against VW in regards to the high pressure fuel pumps in 09-10 JSW, Jetta, 10 Golf, and 10 A3 with the TDI engine... If anyone has had a problem you could look into it @ audivwproblem.com

    Just thought I would share...

on my recent road trip to the US, I got the dreaded MIL. with my trusty Scan Gauge II, it was found to be fault code P242A. exhaust gas temperature sensor b1,s3, so I cleared it and the glow light flashes (bring it to workshop). I kept driving as I was nowhere near a workshop (did not see one VW dealer en route! except in Baltimore and it was Saturday). I have since hooked it up to the Ross-Tech VCDS and found it is VAG fault 009258 which means that the sensor G527 is kaput. The dealer wants $189 plus tax for the part and $260 plus tax for the labour. I know it is cheaper in the US and I figure I might repair it myself. OR delete the DPF entirely and go with a Malone Stage 2 tune (for about the same ballpark of money).
Anyone else on here experience this EGT sensor failure? car is 2009 TDI Sportwagen with 97000km (~60000 miles) US car.

my initial problem was a P0401 fault code, which ended up with my DPF being replaced under the 80K VW/fed Emissions Warranty.

I almost thought I would throw your code, as other posts to my thread http://forums.tdiclub.com/showthread.php?t=361445 eluded to your P242A.

    Hope this helps.

is this 80K miles? gee, this is a US car....hmmm, I should take it to a US dealer methinks!
would it qualify for the emissions warranty even if it has been in Canada for two years?

yea, 80K mi Fed Emissions warranty - DPF included in that, not sure if EGR components are. Most likely, as it's emissions (?).

but I'm thinking they go by where the car was purchased from(?), coz otherwise a bunch of your Canadian brethren would have been flocking over the border just for a free DPF replacement! Who knows - some probably already have!!

seriously, I'm not 100% on the 80K mi fed Emissions warranty, as I was trying not to think my P0401 would be related to the DPF. I was ready to drop some loot for a new EGR valve, filter, etc.

1K mi after the DPF replacement, so far so good. I'm already out of the OE 60K mi warranty, so here's to hoping the "extended service warranty" i got swindled into will see some claims...

thanks for the encouragement! you know us Canadians flock over now for good ole American craft beer, just like you guys used to come north for our 5.0% in the days of 3.2% swill! cheers! I raise a toast! prosit!

since it seems people have forgotten:

2009 manual tdi wagons had higher gear ratios (other than 1st gear). The 2nd - 6th gear ratios were lowered for 2010 and later manual tdi's.

all tdi dsg cars have had similar gearing to the 2009 manual transmissions from the beginning.. though I'm not sure if that is still the case for 2013? I know it's true up through 2012 or so.

My personal preference would be to have the >2010 6th gear swapped into my 2009 transmission. The difference between 5th and 6th would be fairly large, but it'd suit my tastes well.

Saw some comments about the possibility of the GTD coming to the US, so started looking around and found this:

Off that article I also found this article that might answer some of the other questions that have been out there about the future of our cars:

2 months ago I bought a certified pre-owned '09 Jetta TDI SportWagen with 37K on the clock.

Started realizing that after rainstorms I would notice the windows would be all fogged up when I got in the car. I checked around in the back of the wagon, and felt dampness on the carpet area.

I pulled up all the covers and looked in the spare tire wheel well and found the culprit: 2 inches of water. Also there was dampness all around the panoramic sunroof.

Anyone have any clue what the issue may be? I'm assuming (hoping) it's covered under the certified pre-owned warranty.

Called the dealer and they need me to take it in of course.

Trying to upload pics, but can't figure it out to save my life....
