I ride Layton skatepark almost every night!

I hit the sandy skatepark last night, tonight is Family Night so we are going again! Hopefully more family friendly kids. One 5yr old last night dropped the FBomb.![]()

family night sounds terrifying. I have a hard enough time not killing stray kids when parents aren't entitled to letting their kids stand at the bottom of a hip or in the middle of a bowl.
have fun! I'll be at fairmont like usual
We should do a meet at sandy or fairmont soon, they both have BBQs near the park, and bigger lots so we can all show off our kewl carz.

OK so NO family night, I understand that.
I am terrible on trails but I did race in novice in BMX, is there anything in 12th street that would suit me (little gaps)? or would I be overwhelmed and scared scatless?
Also, do i need dirt specific tires on my park bike or should I bring my race bike? Or swap tires from the race bike to the park bike? will a 25/9 work on trails, I heard that 28/9 is better.

Anyone have a 27T front sprocket I can buy for my boy's 18" park bike? Haro got the ratios wrong on this one.

Anyone build their own backyard ramps? Anyone have input on when its so big you need to get the city's approval, or how to make it just small enough that the guvnor doesn't get involved?
What about during the winter, how do you cover it?
How many layers and what to use for the top sheet while still being reasonably priced?
Thanks!

Most cities will require a building permit for anything over about 250 sqft. As far as ramps are concerned, the city may or may not have them listed as a use or limited use in their zoning code. Layton City requires that ramps must be under 4 feet tall, and must be at least 20 feet from surrounding properties. That would put one smack in the middle of my backyard...
The other option is for you to just go ahead and build one and see if your neighbors complain. A lot of code enforcement is done on a complaint-only basis. At least that is what I do as an Urban Planner.
Good luck man!![]()

Always funny to me the over lap you might find in who posts where. Syncrogit I have a private park in central utah. Here is what you need to build
side walls out of 3/4 cdx plywood
decks 3/4 cdx ply
2 layers of 1/2 for any transition, stagger the sheets so 2 seems never land in the same spot
Cover with skatelite if you can afford it, $200 per 4x8 foot sheet.
Paint everything with exterior paint.
Do not cover over winter. If you have even the smallest hole in a tarp from a screw the water will pool in one spot and create a huge ice block in one spot. Repaint about every two years, if you use good paint.
*see it helps to not be a dick in other posting, cause you never know when your going to need help. Or when someone might have a badass private park to ride little kid bikes in.
This is from a few years ago but you get the idea. The park is bigger now and has even more BMX stuff

That looks pretty like a pretty nice park! You built the whole thing? I would hate to see how much you sell it for
( and for the record MP, go back and look at posts #23,25,40,42 and see the good things I said about you/your truck).

Yeah that is what I was getting at. I was implying that the reason I gave you the advice on the ramps was because you were not an ******* like some of the other guys.
As for selling the park, the ramps to do not belong to me. I teach at a private school and they have allocated money to keep this park going and getting bigger. I built all of them and moved/rebuilt the park about every year after the snow melts off. It is a lot different then the pic in the most. We are in the process of changing and adding new ramps. I will post some pics when we get done with the remodel.

I rode at Sandy last night and I will go back tonight if the weather permits. Someone did a backflip off the narrow end of the phalic transition to the west end, very cool. Another dude was doing massive airs over stuff I hadn't even considered.![]()

Also, I bought the roll bar mount for my gopro so I can mount it to the down tube. the handle bar mount location isn't very good IMO.

Yes! I just built up a new-to-me used frame. It is a Rob Wise GT model frame that my buddy Calvin was riding. I like to collect random frames, and I had been wanting one of these. Figured it was worth it to build it up and play around on it for a bit. I like the acid green color...it is different for sure.

Has anyone ridden the trails at Eagle Mountain? I hear they're pretty small, beginner level, just thought i'd ask.
