I know everyone likes to eat good food. Post up a restaurant / bar you recommend, what type of food they serve and a dish / beverage / dessert that is a must order. Please provide an address / location if possible. It will be my goal to try as many places as people post in this thread as I like to try new food!

I have eaten at Camarra's just south of Lawrence on Dufferin. A great Italian place nice and cozy. I recommend their hand made pasta Tortenolli Rose it melts in your mouth!

One of my all time favourite restaurants is Mongolian Grill. There are some bad ones like in toronto...it's not a real one. They serve all raw meats, veggies, salads. You put together your own stirfry, then walk it up to the guys on the grill and they grill it all for you. It's all you can eat for approximately $16 i believe.

The ones to try are Waterloo (170 University Avenue West, Waterloo, ON) and Whitby (75 Consumers Dr. - in the AMC plaza).

The Works Gourmet Burger Bistro, multiple locations in Ottawa. Once you have a burger there, no other 'gourmet' burger place will satisfy you again. I've been probably 50 times now and I can still find something new on the menu.

If this chain ever expands to Toronto it will be the end of me.

I like food. Good idea Nelvin!

    Brampton:

Sahla Thai - pad thai, cashew chicken, Robin Hood Ribs all rock
Toshi Japanese Restaurant - It's good for both take out and eating in. I hate sushi with a passion. But their teriyaki is awesome, I recommend the yakiniku.
Louisiana Seafood - It's a little pricey so I don't go that often but the shrimp etoufee and the jambalya are awesome.

    Mississauga:

Sushi One - Wicked kalbi beef, the green tea ice cream at the end always goes down good.

    Hamilton:

Maccheroni's - Amazing calzones. I've had other stuff there and never been disappointed.
Safin's Grill/Sana Grill - It's a quick and dirty shawarma joint. Chicken and rice ftw.

Royal Meats - Kipling/North Queen. Eastern European type BBQd meats. Hands down one of the best burgers i've ever had.

New Toronto Fish and Chips - Lakeshore/Fifth. Old chinese family that's been doing it right since the Goodyear plant was down the street.

Golden Cook - Lakeshore/Islington. Jamaican food. Fried red, jerk, BBQd, curried, stew chicken, goat, and meatballs. With a side of rice and peas.

Memphis BBQ - Hwy 7/Islington. BBQ'd ribs, pulled pork, chicken, fries, beans, and 'slaw. Not a whole lot of seating space, but damn worth the wait and drive.

San Antonio's - Hwy 7/Martingrove. Italian sandwiches and a mean thin crust pizza. Nelvin might know this place.

Messini's - Danforth/Pape. Greek food that's good and cheap. They don't cheap out on the feta and onions either. Fast service.

All of the above are guaranteed to cause various degrees of ethnic laziness.

Penrose Fish & Chips - Mt. Pleasant between Davisville & Eglinton. Haddock or Cod & chips and that's about it. They have old fashioned pop made with real sugar cane, and on Friday's I believe they have homemade lemon meringue pie. The place closes at like 7pm most days, and I think only 6pm on Saturdays...so it's not a place for a late dinner. The old lady that works there has been running the place for 60 years.

    Brampton,

Giggling Tomato's kills it for breakfast nice and cheap too

Burgers well quite frankly there is none in Brampton but if I had to make a choice it'd be sonny's

    Mississauga

Paramount south west of dixie and Eglington on Crestlawn Killer Mixed Grill & Shawarma's they also are a bakery you can buy fresh roasted nuts and the pita's are the best in the city.

Maingate drive between Tomken and Dixie off of eglington is Sandra's Roti Shop fantastic Goat Roti from there.

North east corner of dixie and eastgate there is a chinese mall (South of the BMW dealership) Arigato sushi, in there is the best damn sushi I've had in Ontario

I always enjoy a Steak Sandwich at San Franscesco's on 403 & Winston Churchill. The original place in Toronto is better though

In Mississauga there's always Zita's BBQ at Credit View & Bristol for some awesome Portuguese BBQ Chicken. Don't have anything else there though.

For proper Cantonese BBQ duck & suckling pig.

Richmond Lane plaza, on Leslie North of 16th (its on the East side of Leslie), inside there's a BBQ shop that sells all sorts of BBQ meat, you can order meal plate for $6 that'll come with soup and a drink, and the BBQ Duck is to die for.

For Shawarma, there's a place on Younge, north of Elgin Mills, its on the East side right after the Ford (or GM) dealership, its absolutely HUGE and its pretty good.

Maison Du Japan on Woodbine has great all you can eat Sushi.

Maple Yip on 4227 Sheppard Avenue East, it has great traditional Cantonese food, the deco is horrible but its always packed.

Now we've moved to Oshawa, I like the chip truck close by the house on Taunton & Wilson, still going to explore Oshawa's food scene more.

I still recall Mario's Chicken on Dundas, East of Hwy10 being one of the best Chicken, especially the Fava beans.

Blackstone, its a Indo/Thai/Chinese resturant on Woodbine, I think 2 traffic light north of hwy 7, its a plaza on the East, its right North of the Timmies, it has great selection of food.

Not to mention one of the best sausages is at the Cdn tire of 403 & Dundas.

Best Shawarma in the east end hands down, super tasty, super fresh and not greasy or oily at all.

So if your looking for a nice healthy lunch you must eat here.

Pita Delites - Ajax, Harwood just south of the 401 in the plaza.

Phil's BBQ at ossington and college - pulled pork insanity. even the coleslaw is amazing.

Stone Grille at Winchester and Parliment. amazing tenderloins, elk, bison, or whatever else they have in stock that day. it comes to you on a 700f volcanic stone and cooks in front of you.

Gio Rana's Really Nice Restaurant. near leslie/queen. i like it. all kinds of fare.

    In Waterloo

Davenport Pizza - A small family owned place, no real place to sit and eat but great for take out/ordering. Extremely fresh ingredients, not too doughy, not too crispy, better than 99% of the chain pizza places out there. Also pretty cheap- $9.99 for a large 3 topping.

    615 Davenport Road. Waterloo, ON

al-Madina's - Egyptian cuisine. The BEST shawarma outside of Toronto. Another family-owned place, also has a nice restaurant attached to it.

150 University Ave W. Waterloo, ON

Mel's Diner - Anybody that's been to WLU or UW has eaten at Mel's after a heavy night at the bars. The skillets are amazing. All day breakfast. Has a 50's theme, with the jukebox and everything. Some pretty good music on it too. Mel's Favorite is the $3.99 daily special. Usually includes sausage, ham, eggs and toast- just what you need to soak up the tequila.

140 University Ave W. Waterloo, ON

    In Brampton

Friends Restaurant - Hands down one of the best places in Brampton to get some Indian food. Mostly Punjabi food, huge selection of sweets and stuff. Samosas are 3 for $1. I'm Punjabi- and we eat there. Butter chicken is heavenly.

860 North Park Dr. Brampton, ON

Sonny's - Can't beat greasy Sonny's for some good ol' burgers and hotdawgs. Student budget friendly. Warning! They don't take interac.

21 Kenneddy Dr N. Brampton, ON

    In Oakville

The Kings Arms - Just found this beaut' a couple days ago when I was in Oakville picking up parts from 88Mk1DropTop . Old building from the 1800's, great selection on tap, fish and chips were amazing! Only a couple blocks from the lake too. Deffo worth a visit for a pint.

    MISC

Hot dog stand on Bramalea and Orenda, just north of Steeles. Great guy, moved from Finland in the 40's. Has amazing fried onions. Beware- they will set your mouth on fire, but not just heat- AMAZING flavor. Nothing better on a sausage imo.

    BEST PIZZA IN TOWN
Newmarket off of Davis drive east of Leslie. The name might be best pizza but for $4.19 they have one of the best burgers I have ever tried and the price includes fries!

Caruso's Gourmet Pizza in Bolton. If you are ever in Bolton it's worth stopping in for a slice. I used to hit that place up like 3-4 times a week for lunch in highschool. Closed Mondays.

    I'd recommend:
    - 5 FORMAGGI
    - BRUSCHETTA
    - CALABRESE
    - PATATE MOLLE (mashed potato)
    - DELLA CASA (house special)

I eat at Mongolian Grill the one on Don Mills north of Eglington often... great place always fresh, great selection, much better than most Mandarins... but if you do have to go to Mandarin the one to go to is at 410 and Steeles by far the best Mandarin in the GTA....

San Francisco Treat and Steamwhistle on tap.

Always a good choice. Some of my faves (and I've tried about 50% of the burger menu):

    - Crappy Tire - pineapple ring, sweet & spicy sauce & brie cheese
    - Dead Ringer – bbq smoked brisket, smokey bbq sauce, jack cheese & an onion ring
    - Hold The Phone – peanut butter, cream cheese & jack cheese
    - Kamikaze – jalapeno, chipotle & banana peppers, cheddar cheese & hotter than hell sauce
    - SK8R Boy – peanut butter, jack cheese & strip bacon
    - Sum Yung Guy – sticky cream cheese, caramelized onions, gouda & limp strip bacon...least hetero sound burger ever but so good.

It's pretty much worth the 4 hour drive to Ottawa just to go there.

my favorite restaurant in toronto has to be Lee http://www.susur.com/lee/

the Singaporean style slaw is probably the best salad I have ever eaten, hands down. and the slow brazed beef is insanely good, its so soft you can cut it with a spoon. if you havent been to this place you're missing out. susur lee (the owner/chef) has been on iron chef numerous times, and is a genius in the kitchen.

negatory. Crown and Dragon pub at yonge and church/davenport, best wings in town, voted!

burgs - gourmet burger co. on parliament just north of carlton, craft burger on yonge just north of bloor.

I agree with all those brekky joints in brampton, but i must add sunset grille (theres one north of eglington on yonge as well, and probably more), great food, and lots, for a good price.

Korean BBQ is unreal as well.

best pad thai in town, probably thai express, or california thai, both are at yonge and dundas (express in the eaton centre, cali thai in the AMC building).

Eg and Mt. Pleasant: Granite Ridge Micro-brewery not only is the beer AWESOME (12 3oz tasters at a buck each?!) but the food (minus the wings) is sick.

875 Danforth: Square Boy's chicken slouvaki is... awesome, I've made GermaniuM take me like 2 a week since he introduced me to it like a month ago.

Yonge just N. of Eg: Spaccos patio there Pizza is awesome, you HAVE to eat it with a fork and knife! Half price Martini night is sweet too!

Yonge just N. of Eg: Chimichangas, kick ass lunch menu, awesome chicken burritos. The food gets expensive after lunch though.

NELVIN!!! All Stars?! At Yonge and Elgin Mills in R.Hill, best freaking wings/chicken fingers knwon to man, **** this Duff's/St. Louis crap, the fries suck but the wings... om nom nom nom...

I have YET to find a good Submarine place but...

Yonge somewhere N. of Eg and S. of Lawrence: Bellybusters, great subs but not "perfect" IMHO.

Eglinton just E of Yonge: Moe's Southwest Grill, it's good for the price, at least as good as a chain of "mexican" fare can get.

Mt. Pleasant S. of Eg: Chick'N Deli's, very ala Swiss Chalet/St. Louis (they bite a lot of their steez) the service is good, the food is good as a mix and COUGAR night is epic. 'Nuff said.

SNEEKY DEE'S: I dunno where the hell it is, it's usually on a drunken night walk home, but their burritos ( or maybe it's the booze) save lives at 3AM. It was probably a strategic placement across from "Bistro" (9 dollar pitchers?) that makes me think their so good...

I know there's more, but I'm tapped out now. "Black Hoof" apparently got excellent reviews for a "tapas" bar, I'm eager to check it out, but with stuff like "duck confit", horse meat, and specialty cured meats and vintage wines makes me think I'm gonna have to save up for it...

Memphis BBQ - Hwy 7/Islington. BBQ'd ribs, pulled pork, chicken, fries, beans, and 'slaw. Not a whole lot of seating space, but damn worth the wait and drive.

Oh FML, how could I forget.. The Elvis Platter? Sweet baby jesus I'm salivating as I type..

best pad thai in town, probably thai express, or california thai, both are at yonge and dundas (express in the eaton centre, cali thai in the AMC building).

their pad thai is pretty good... I don't normally like chains but Spring Rolls has some pretty decent food as well... their Pad Thai has me hooked
