Thread: BFI - Motor Mounts - Polyurethane solutions for your MkV 2.0T, 2.5L, and VR6

  1. 08-20-2009 05:18 PM #1

We are proud to offer our complete line of performance motor mounts for all 2.0T, 2.5L, and VR6 applications. Our line of Full Poly mounts is unlike any other poly options available. They are produced from a two part liquid cast system in several durometers. This results in both a more uniform product as well as a more durable one..

To see our entire portfolio of Mk5/Mk6 engine mounts, .

Please post here, PM, or email us at: sales@blackforestindustries.com with any questions.

Do you have a picture of where the tranny mount goes on the car? I'm trying to visualize where it installs but I'm drawing a blank.

I installed the stage 1 insert last night... WOW! What a difference! After 50,000 miles, the stock rubber was all mushy how it looked on BFI's website. After installation I thought I should've greased it up being that usually poly mounts squeak, but nothing yet. Installation was a breeze so if it starts to squeak, I will just pull it apart again, no biggie. As-soon-as I started my car I could feel the difference that little block made. Subtle vibrations made her feel like my friends gutted MK3. Taking her around the block for a test run was amazing. I have to admit that when I first got my car I did the cosmetic mods at 1st, smoked bumper lights, window tint, etc. But the last few mods, C2 93oct software & BFI trans insert, have made me love my car again. Next mods: Cupkit, NLS shifter w/ 42DD bushings...

So my 2.5L rabbit feels super slushy! I can feel the engine movement under acceleration/braking more and more these days. Car has 46k miles... can you recommend which mount is needed? Is it the torque arm insert or the trans mount insert that would help?

    TIA!

The torque arm would be the easiest and best place to start, not to mention the least expensive. After that if you feel you need more, you can then upgrade with a transmission mount and passenger side mount.

please make an engine mount for the 2.5L! you'd have the market cornered.

Just installed my BFI stage 1 mounts. (Engine and Trans, no dogbone) Love it. I had other aftermarket mounts installed and had to remove them due to idle booming (pressure in cabin at idle). They were 85a durometer mounts like many companies make. Loved the performance, but could not deal with the pressure so I took them out and sold them.

The stage 1 65a durometer mounts from BFI are just right. Engine stopped moving around but only a slight increase in idle vibration with no idle booming.

I have a broken dogbone insert from BFI that I removed due to too much idle vibration. I wish BFI made a 65a dogbone insert.

A 65a durometer dogbone insert would be too soft for the application in our opinion. However, our updated inserts are now 90a instead of our initially produced inserts which came in at a considerably stiffer 98a.

Bump for my friends at BFI!

I had these installed by the team at BFI on my 08 GTI about a month or so ago and absolutely love them. I had both the motor and transmission mounts installed at about 40k miles. To me they really brought the car back to that "new" feeling. When I first got back in the car it seemed like the vibration from the engine was only slightly increased, but it seems like since the installation that has reduced by quite a bit. I defiantly recommend getting these!

Again thanks to everybody at BFI!

To better assist you with the problem you're having, we need to establish a couple of things.
Do you have our mounts or do you still have factory mounts?
What do you mean by "raise the engine"?
Please shoot us an e-mail sales@blackforestindustries.com and provide as much detail as possible and we will do our best to help you with the problem you're having.

How aggressive are your stage 2 mounts in comparison to the stage 1 mounts?

Stage 1 mounts are approximately 50% stiffer then stock.
Stage 2 mounts are approximately 100% stiffer then stock.

We recommend Stage 2 mounts for high horsepower vehicles, or track/auto-x prepped vehicles.
For daily driven, sub 300-whp vehicles we recommend Stage 1 mounts.
