Thread: Baby seats - had these for a while (18mo?) but never took pics...

  1. 08-27-2009 10:03 AM #1
Thanks to Bryan having some fabric left over from his E30 318is project, we were able to (well Bryan was able to) put together some nice coordinated inserts for the Recaro toddler seats in my wife's GTI.

It's one of those things that no one will probably ever notice or see, but is a nice subtle detail.

How did you remove the center headrest? I have the same car seat, though mine is in the middle, it's a pain in the a$$ to get the top latch in!!

I don't remember. It has been out since we bought the car in September '06. I'll take a look at it.

I hate the center head rests, because no one ever rides there and all it does is impede rear vision. Nothing like reducing safety of the more common situation in the name of increasing it for the less common situation. Gotta love government regulation.

That does look cool, but arguably easier to get black fabric embroidered than to get interlagos fabric period.

I wish that fabric was easier to get so I could make myself an outfit out of it.

When you pull it up you can push down the fabric a bit around the plastic and there is a little hole you can push in (like the manual eject hole on a CD-ROM). This releases something and lets you pull it out.

Ok, so where did Bryan get the fabric from?

I dunno. Have to ask Vortex Media Group. It was from the MWerks project E30.

Yeah but it's funny. The car has sat there just like this with the windows open at the last two Treffens, and one couple noticed them. You just don't see inside a car much. Which is cool with me. They're not there for everyone else.

That looks awesome! Funny thing is that we bought the Recaro Young Sport and put it in our family hauler (5). Then we got a cheap car seat for my car (GTI), little guy likes the cheap seat much better so we switched them around, the Recaro is now in my car.
