Thread: VW Golf Mk3 Cabriolet (GTI)

  1. 01-04-2011 02:23 AM #36
I need your advice on the following, guys. Currently I have 15" Rial Campo rims (6.5J, ET42) and I also have 15" Borbet Type C rims (7J, ET35). I'm in a dilemma - which ones to choose? What do u think?

Personally I think that the Borbets will look better and wider (certainly)

    Borbet Type C:

I'd stay with the Rials and get ca 20-25mm spacers. Or sell both sets and get 16'' wheels...

Btw, my neighbour had a very similar cabrio - black, badgeless grille, identical Rials
    If I fitted 4x100 to 5x100 adapters and then a 5x100 to 5x112 adapters... would I die?

The car is getting a full respray in two weeks. I also found Brock B2 16", 7.5J rims and I am getting them on Sunday, if everything goes as planned. We should have a beauty in a month, fingers crossed!

@Vento86 - yup, the same color.
@tits4low - I don't have A/C, so I didn't have to play with that button. But a friend of mine is struggling with the same switch because it cannot be split and opened like the others.

The car is now finally ready. Here are some pics with the new headlights which I recently bought.

    More pics soon!

P.S. I am still wondering whether to stay with the FK angel eyes (new ones) or switch back to the good old Hella...

I've decided to switch back to the good old Hella headlights. I think that they look better based on the idea that I want to keep the car as stock as possible.

10x, guys. Btw if I drop the car a bit more it will not be drivable in my country... the road conditions are awful.

nice cab....two questions though....how did u get them headers to fit? What muffler system is that?

  26. 06-16-2011 05:46 AM #61
The headers are SuperSprint. They are for 1.8/2.0 8V engines - no drama fitting them. This is the sport version (long one). The other exhaust components are the stock ones from a GTI 16V (ABF engine), F55. The catalytic converter was already removed by the previous owner.

Those type Cs on the Gti are 16s. That was my old car they would look good on your car but I would stick with 15s.
