So I figured I would start this up. I'll be moving to South Korea next month for two years with my R32 by my side. Any other dubers out that way?![]()

i'm here in yongsan right now. i just got here like 2 weeks ago. i'll be stationed here for a year. thinking about staying here for 3 years if i get command sponsorship so my family can come down. people over here drive reckless. they run red lights like it's still green. but i'm still debating to bring my vr6t and wifeys rabbit.

Seriously, the koreans are fantastic drivers... I took full advantage of the awesome public transportation while I was there.. Anyway you should seriously think about just getting a beater before you get your VW's shipped over... If you end up staying for the long tour, I think you could pull it off, it would just be a hassle getting parts/working on/fully enjoying your VW's.. Also there is a car club in seoul -"club pocket rocket" if you search the forum I think you should still be able to find some of their old posts... good luck

Wow, people from PNW going to Korea and I didn't know?? That's shocking!Club Pocket Rocket was created by my brother, but membership is closed for open public.
Sometimes we get guests from US military when we go cruise. IIRC, last one I heard was
someone with Mk3 GTI VR6T (forgot his name, must be Chris or James though)![]()
There are lots of VW's and enthusiasts but don't expect same things..
About the driving over there, I don't mind having to be a little alerted for others,
in exchange with MUCH more freedom you can enjoy. For anyone who is in South Korea in need of parts or service or anything really,
feel free to IM me. I have some network I can utilize to help ppl from PNW, especially.

I brought my Vr6 Gti with me to SK, built a 3.0L S/c w/nos and then turbo vr6 there and had wonderful support from deagu vw. Parts where easy to get, the Zest shop and Rising sun shop where great and it rocked having a 550Hp Vr6 in korea. Plus there was a german contractor that has a bi turbo mk4 2.8L Gti/ And I cant forget the team drift guys..Lee and Mr.K(900Hp 4 door) would make Ken block look silly with there Bi/twin turbo Hyundai cars

The test of the machine is the satisfaction it gives you. There isn't any other test. If the machine produces tranquility it's right. If it disturbs you it's wrong until either the machine or your mind is changed.
