TT 87-07-942006-2008 Beetle, Jetta , GTI, Rabbit, EOS, Passat - Ambient Temperature Sensor Reset
If the ambient temperature sensor or a/c control head is unplugged or replaced for any reason, the ambient temperature sensor must be reset in order to function properly. To reset the sensor, the vehicle must be driven over 25 mph or, if at a standstill, left running for 20 minutes.
