Thread: MkV Tips, Tricks, and Easter Eggs

  1. 09-13-2009 11:16 PM #1
Ok so there used to be a list like this on the BMW forum when I had my Bimmer. I just thought it would be cool to list some of the cool not so know things you can do with ours cars.
    I only know a couple.
    1. Turn the sunroof dial farther and hold it and the sunroof will open up more.
    2. There are cup holders in the little compartment al the way at the front of driver and passenger doors.

Unlock both doors with your key fob. Open drivers door and hold down the driver "window down" button. All windows roll down.

I put self adhesive felt around the diffuser and there's no creaks.

If wipers are on and the car is put in reverse, the rear wiper makes a swipe.

False my jetta does not do this.

When airbags deploy, the car turns on interior lighting, unlocks doors, shuts off fuel, switches on the hazards and disconnects the battery terminal from the alternator.

All lights shut off after 10 minutes. Even if you TRY to leave them on. I know cause I tried installing a stereo at night.

the spray nozzle for the rear wiper is actually in the hub! i totally didn't know that until i got a rabbit as a loaner. and the spray nozzles up front are under the bonnet. its a pretty neat and clever design!

Someone posed this earlier, but you can go through the MAF>settings>convenience>single door>select and your kay fab will open all the doors in one click instead of 5.

If you want to leave your windows cracked turn the car off, send them all up at once, and open the door at the last second. Otherwise it is easy to get caught in the auto up, auto down , auto up, auto down cycle.

The Styrofoam around the spare tire has a lot of micro fiber towel and tool storage.

The wipers are awesome, spray the windscreen while driving and it will wipe three times and give one last wipe after a few seconds but im sure everybody knows that...

  32. 09-14-2009 04:37 PM #32
if you go through the menu of your MAF under convenience mode you should find ATA confirm (or something or other) if you turn this off your car will not honk the horn when you lock it, only flash the lights. Perfect if you're sneaking over to someone's house at night and you don't wanna wake the neighbors or parents

  33. 09-16-2009 07:36 PM #33
Your wipers will never stick in the halfway up position that I HATE SO MUCH! Even if it's in mid wipe and you remove the key, they will still go down.

if you take the rear spray nozzle cap off.. you get a squirt gun. very useful for tailgaters, or if you want to drive infront of some bros and piss em off.
