    for all this work...

Cap off..sure, it might spill some, but no biggy, if its not flowing a little right away its in need of a pump, or clogs cleared.

no scribbles from me, but If I remember this thread when I am sober I will try to scan one for you.

    Thanks SGLoki!

Thanks for offering the scan sober or not, it's appreciated. I'm still working on it. It's easier now that it's thawing out in the garage and the sun is staying up longer. I'll have some shots of my wiring rats nest up soon. There seems to be a contact short in the "on" position of the ignition cylinder. I'm looking to do a push-button start to bypass the short.

I want to use a Bussmann Fuse Panel ATC 6 Pole as a replacement for the fuse box. Anyone have a simple diagram for a setup like this?

In some aspects I wish i was a bit more patient before yanking the wiring but I think I would have spent more time tracing wires or eventually having to replace them one at a time anyways.

    Thanks all!

    Damn, its been a while.

So I've managed to get the old girl road worthy. As I'm not the current regged owner I'm in need of taking it in to WA state patrol for inpection. I'd intended on going this last Monday but

    1) Windshield wipers don't work (hadn't wired them up yet. It was 75° and sunny out when I setup the appointment, gotta love Seattle)

    2) It was raining

    3) It's a good 15miles from my spot to state patrol

I picked up a (CL score) used wiper motor and arms the next day. Needless to say, I plan on rescheduling in a couple weeks. In the meanwhile since the last post (damn, over a year ago...) I've made up my own "fuse box" and rewired most of the stuff out of the engine bay. Looks like crap but it works and I've got more of an appreciation of what electrical engineers go through. I'm no EE but I've got it rigged enough to get it down the street and back windshield wipers or not.

Head lights and turn signals wired up!

That oh so sick "custom dash board"!

Out on the street being baptized "under my care"

Just in front of the garage

Back in the garage, yeah I chickened out...so.

I'll post pics of the "fuse box" in a bit. I think I popped the speedo wire while I was driving it, now the indicator just continues to spin around the dial until it stops at the peg that reads "0mph". I've also got a bit of rubbing on the rear pass side wheel, might need a little adjustment...

I have a question about the fuel and temp gauge. I know they are supposed to be on a 10v stabilizer so the needles stay more steady, does anyone know if Radio Shack has 'em and if so, what part# to ask for?

Thanks everyone for you're inputs over the last three years. I haven't given up yet!

Please just get bumpers with turn signals already in them or at least move those turn signals inside the frame horns so they don't stick out so far. Nice to see some progress!

yes the voltage stabilizer runs 10 volts to the fuel, temp & tach.

i dont think Radioshack will have what you need...worth a shot though

your speedo spins around like bonkers because it is broken
there isnt much you can do about it....dismantle it, clean it, look for broken stuff

dont use oil or grease anywhere on it except on the primary metal pivots of the worm gear
oil and grease will otherwise deteriorate the gears

@ rabbitnothopper: Thanks for the advice on the speedo. I was just driving up the hill and it started "buzzing" loudly. I thought it was more serious at first. I'll have to set up something more stable for my make shift dash. I post if I find the/a stabilizer at RS. Maybe I'll try Frys too.

@ GTrqbbit. I like the "no bumper" look but you're absolutely right. I can just see the lights getting crushed as someone/I pulls in to parallel park. Using the horns is a good idea. Thanks!

    Hey guys,

Is the body wiper motor grounded directly thru the mounting bolts? Thanks.

NO that has a rubber grommet so that wont ground. The Wiring for the wiper motor has a ground within the plug then grounds on the fuse box hanger. Kinda behind the fuse box

Thanks for the reply. I've been trying to get it to work. I've got the Bently and it looks like the brown wire is supposed to be the ground but when I hook it up and then try to apply 12v to any of the other wires, I get nothing.
    I take that back.
When I connect 12v to the green and black wire it sparks and gets HOT. I've got two motors and the same thing happens to both of them. I'm guessing they cant both be bad and I'm wiring them up wrong. As posted earlier, I've pulled all the original wiring out (making it more difficult) but learning a lot as I go.
Are you positive the motor housing isn't grounded to the firewall? Thanks again!

So in a THIRD failed attempt to get this thing to Bellevue state patrol I've run across another issue (or two). I drove it around last night for a few miles and what I discovered when I stopped at Safeway to get some late night snacks was that the alternator was not charging the battery.... I was able to get it home by using the HF jumper box I had in the trunk. The alternator I have has got a ground to the motor, two red wires going to the battery and a blue wire that's supposed o go to the fusebox.

Does anyone know if there's supposed to be 12 volts going INTO the alternator, from the fuse box -or 12v coming OUT of the alternator, supplying aux power?

    Second question.

It runs and idles fine for a good 10-15 minutes, but after that it will run if I have my foot on the throttle but when i let up it won't idle at all.

I don't have the electric choke wired up, could that be the problem? Thanks guys!

I was able to get it running long enough to check what the reading was from the two red wires on the alternator.

    .5v

So unless the blue wire is providing voltage FROM the battery to be amplified by the alternator, I'm gonna assume the alt is bad. I've tired taking it into O'reileys and Autozone but neither one said that they could test it as they didn't have the right adapter...

I was only able to get the car to run by turning the idle up nearly all the way. I also hooked a wire from the Auto choke to the battery but it didn't help. It still died as soon as I tried to turn the idle back down.
