retrofitted...cost 1583 dollars...AFS is pretty neat, I am sure it would be very functional in dark hilly areas...

I found though that if you code it as if it does have a High BCM (the specific coding I'd have to check), the Mid sends the 12v out the Halogen high beam circuit, but does not monitor the current draw. So its a matter of making sure the shutter pin on the headlight connector is wired to the halogen high beam output on the BCM and then coding it as if it had a High BCM.
Something is wrong with my coding b/c my high beams aren't working with my midline.

But the only error msg I'm getting on the MFI is Check Rear Fog...and the tire pressure warning.

Can you post your long coding?

I think I'm actually coded for the rear fog (even though I don't have them) but of course I've done none of the related wire swapping for that mod.

I also think my guy set me to RoW to get the low beams working

I knew I should've done a write up on this when I did it. I'll try and get a pin out up before the end of the day tomorrow along with my coding, there were 1-2 wires on each side that I had to change the terminals on because they were too big, I also added a second ground. I'll try and document all of this and get it up here, can't really do anything tonight because I don't have vagcom at home and I have my pin out written down at work.

    That would be most helpful

I've read every thread there is on this mod but I don't have vagcom, so I have to leave it to other people who def don't know as much about the coding as I do.

I'm looking for a ross tech cable if anyone knows of one available btw... but first I've got to buy my CECM

I'm looking around on German eBay but it's hard to make sure it's the right module with the correct software. I don't seem to see any "G" units around

I'll get you the information in the next couple of days, I was too busy tearing down a 20th trans today to worry about it.

Bringing this one back from the dead - were you ever able to figure out the coding necessary to get our mid-line working with high beams?

Your help is greatly appreciated - I'm sure there a bunch of us who would love to save $400.....

It's not possible unless you re-wire your headlight adapters. You could ghetto-rig the trigger wires to the battery and make it work. Not reccomended.

Everyone I spoke with about this at my shop and a master tech at VW was unable to get the highbeams working with my midline.

I had to modify (splice) my adapter just to get the LEDs working at all, and they still don't work as DRLs, despite trying all kinds of coding.

To be clear, I have a set of OEMs with the LED DRLs and a midline ending in 86 P

Sorry to revive this thread from the dead but I have a concern/question.

Installed my xenons last night and used the adapter harness from ECS and everything works just fine, no error codes in the dash, and the highbeam trigger wires work just fine. But when scanning with VCDS it shows multiple faults with both headlights and city lights.

Anyway to resolve this? I see now that it is a 10-12 adapter and can't seem to find if I needed a 14 pin adapter instead. Could this be the reason faults are appearing in VCDS?

    Adapter harness in question.

Anyways, I'm not extremely worried about this since my MFD shows no errors and everything is working properly, but I would like it that when I autoscan it showed no faults! Maybe just my OCD perfectionist coming out in me but again, annoying.

Any advice on this? Do I need to get the Kufatec harness instead?

    Thanks,
    Jeff

Just curious, but did you code with vagcom for HIDs with shutters?

Yes I did. Was getting MFD errors until I turned off the halogen high beam bit.

Forgive me for the question, but did you remember to clear the codes after you installed the lights, and then run a scan again to see if there were any codes?

If so, what faults are being presented?

Yes I did, cleared after I went for a drive and they still returned, let me get my log for you in a bit.

If it matters Byte 18 is still set to 00, not sure if I need to apply a Golf setting to clear the remaining code.
Not sure if that is due to the LED bulbs I put in the City lights, but that should be a non-issue since they are Can-Bus LED's.
Can't recreate the High Beam error at the moment, but that is not a bad thing!
