I love all four cars sooo very much in the original article.
Personally, I can remember falling in love first, with the M3, after seeing a few articles of the cars in Roundel Magazine back in late '87, and then the Golf Rallye, after reading an issue of CAR magazine from 1988.
I had never seen a picture of a Quattro until much later, and didn't even realise that they had the cars in the states!
My goals of owning a Rallye back in the day were crushed as we got watered down VW's (compared to the rest of the world) back then, and 2014 is a long span of time back in 1988.
From the get go, I wanted very much an M3, but when the time came to maybe search one out to buy, they were all out of my price range.
      Enter the Quattro.
I had found mine for just 5 grand back in 2001. After I bought the Quattro, the others cars were suddenly not important anymore.
I just out of freak chance recently, was able to grab my M3, and it was worth the wait.

Now is the time to grab a Quattro.
They are STILL under the radar in the states...and by far the cheapest car on this original list.
      some pic whoring.

If you have a 5 cylinder, you don't need a stereo.

What is a Homologation car you ask?

What, no Citroën BX 4TC love?
Citroën entered Group B rallying with the BX in 1986. The specially-designed rally BX was called the BX 4TC and bore little resemblance to the standard BX. It had a very long nose because the engine (derived from the Peugeot 505 engine) was mounted longitudinally. Interestingly, the rally version of the BX also featured the unique hydropneumatic suspension. Because of the Group B regulations, 200 street versions of the 4TC also had to be built.
The 4TC was never very successful in World Rally Championship competition, its best result being 6th place in the 1986 Swedish Rally, and Citroën only participated in three Group B rallies before the Group B class was banned in late 1986, following the death of Henri Toivonen in his Lancia Delta S4 at the Tour de Corse Rally. Citroën was ashamed of the performance of its cars, and immediately recalled and scrapped as many examples as it could, making the BX 4TC road and race cars extremely rare and sought-after.
      The street version:

This car in this picture is, amazingly enough, in America, at the Lane Motor Museum in Nashville, TN. I've poked around it many times, and it truly is a very unique Group B car.

Here's another neat, "boxed" Group B Homologation special, the MG Metro 6R4 built by Williams. mid-engine, 400 hp 3 liter Rover V6, AWD and 0-60 in 2.5 seconds. (Also note the aforementioned Delta to the Metro's left)

And some Renault 5 Turbo for good measure...

Think I know that car. ~200k miles, rust under the rear bumper, torn up interior?

Hope you got him to come down a little bit on what he was asking if its the same car.

I missed this thread the first time around!

What's this? Oh hell yes it's a Chevette. A Vauxhall Chevette HSR.

The S12 Silvia on a previous page wasn't factory, but this S110 Silvia 240RS is:

Both of these cars were built for rally homologation, seems to be a common theme here.
