Our staff will not push any customer car in their absence. Every car we build receives a 250 mile shake down and is then handed over to the end user for hard play.

I, for one, am very happy with that policy..

Looks nice, but too rich for my blood, can't justify spending half the (now) value of the car on a SC.

Maybe one day a turbo or SC will be below 5k (Installed), then I might be able to afford it!

Cams, and exhaust will bring more HP

The dyno runs were on a FWD dynojet.

More videos to come. I did take video of my runs at Bonneville but my camera has a nasty rattle. Its audible in the video coming down the mountain and its terrible on the salt! I may post it despite the noise.

    Full review coming soon.

Still waiting for some video of this Bad boy!

Do you have any intention of offering an MKV application?

How many hours is a typical install?

We will re investigate the MK5 starting in November once all our current builds are squared away.

Install, 18-22 hours, no more. Because you don't open up the moor, the install is very straight forward!

So it's 35whp & 25wtq above the VF Stage 2 on the same dyno... although your dyno is on 94 oct and we only have 91 oct here. +1

Completely stealth install from outside appearances, no giant FMIC announcing to the world that there's something extra going on under the hood, no modifying stock grills. +1

Lower belt tension within OEM tolerances for longevity & reliability. +1

    Looks good to me.

Did you mean 1-2 hours? or does it really take some people an hour, and some people 22 hours??

Thanks, the kit however was run on 93 and should be about 50horse to the wheels over the VF stage 2 based on dyno sheets provided by VF.

The main advantage is the lower belt tension in conjunction with the increased performance. Many have tried under drive pulleys t get there which simply inflames that fragile relationship.

    And it sounds like sex

this may sound silly, but one of the biggest downsides in going turbo for me was losing that sweet vr6 growl. (and i'm sure not the only one. i remember someone posting years ago that they were considering taking their hpa turbo kit off to get that sound back.)

someone needs to post a clear soundclip of the VR6 growl + S/C whine. now that's gotta be a sweet, sweet symphony.

Have you guys upgraded a CVP Level 2 MK4 yet to the iXG kit?

Curious as to what the hp/tq gains are there as the car would also have upgraded down pipes, high flow mid section / mid muffler and CVP-specific camshafts.

  24. 10-19-2009 06:39 PM #129
I am 100% buying this kit. This is exactly what I have been waiting for.

I almost picked up the VF system a few times in the past, but didnt like the fact that it was pretty much a dead end upgradeability wise once they dropped stage 3 and 4.
Ive had a car with 300whp before.... and it definatly left something to be desired. However, 350whp keeping the same power delivery of the vr6 is a beautiful thought.

That plus the the fact that if my need for speed ever exceeds what the ixg has to offer.... I can just upgrade to one of their turbo kits since because of all of the reuseable parts between setups. The rational side of me has been trying to talk myself out of spending 1/3 of what I spent on the car on an upgrade.... but the adrenaline junkie in me figures 1/3 the cost isnt bad for nearly 2x the power.

You will be hearing from me very soon...

The car will have 365 @ the wheel when outfit with cams and downpipes. Fuel grade will be the only differential at that point.

Our initial build was on the HPA CVP level 2 beta car, and we used the VF stage 2 at tat point. We made 360WHP on 100 octane with the F trim blower @ 7psi

The more that start to play now with our typhoon, I am confident, the more HP reports we will see in the high 360"s +

What kind of battery bracket are you guys using? I have the same battery and need a way to secure it other than the rubber tie downs I am currently using.

Just to be fair im going to say this.......

A stock R32 is around 205-210 Wheel HP

The Typhoon is around 360 Front wheel HP

This is more than 100, plus the torque is way higher.

Its a big difference stock vs typhoon

I just had to get that off my chest.

Can you explain the process (in general) to install one of these? Curious if it is it something a local VW shop or backyard mechanic could put/bolt-on to his .:R?

Considering the kit requires 20+ hours to install... it seems like this would be a really bad idea for me to buy the kit and attempt this myself without the help of HPA. Am I wrong?

Honestly if you can do the steps the steps just add up to that amount. Your talking front end removal and oil pan tapping. No biggies, but not standard stuff either. I honestly would consider installing my own if I had the proper area to do so; but I'm willing to take the beating for the glory

The beauty of the Typhoon is that it is a basic install. in 12 hours, the blower would be fully installed. the air to water takes time due to the routing of the hoses, and here you pick up the extra hour. I am confident that a do-it-yourselfer would have little to no issues with this package as it is a topical install. The welding in of the cat cores any muffler shop or fabrication facility should be able to support.

Our team has really invested a lot of time into the install guide for this package and are here for Q&A for any installer.
