hey. is yours not connected too?
i've got the front bumper off atm, so i got at it from the front. it sits directly under the battery. you might be able to get your arm at it from underneath. i'll have a look tomorrow. here's a pic of someones car, it's in that fender cavity in the bottom right hand corner. http://i20.photobucket.com/alb...8.jpg

Well I had it with Julian today and we tried to balnk it off by squeezing the pipe but it didn't change so I am pretty sure it's ok.

We even had the ECU to check for damage and also tried it with a spare working one, still no luck.

I think it's gonna never idle (without the A/C on) proper so just learn to live with it or never stop. One of the two

So time to let it go for someone to enjoy it.

The car has had the rust repaired in the floor pan. The body isn't completely straight, the major being a dent in the rear panel just near the rear lights as you can see in the pictures. The rubber seals aren't in the best condition.

You left your cap on the aerial.

So, new batteries (think I know the answer to this) am I better of just getting an NRMA number and saving any hassles, or trying to buy one at Repco when I go there tomorrow for some goodies.

  15. 10-11-2009 06:00 AM #50
Start a poll. Only definitive way to find out the answer...

I would try and get one from a battery shop. More range, better choices, better prices and you dont have to deal with an NRMA chump. Also if said battery goes wrong, you can take it back. With NRMA, you would have to wait for them to come out again....

Hey Will, don't suppose you have a spare grille outer trim lying around? Y'know the red bit. DubSteve can sort me out with the single headlight grille, but my current grille doesn't have the outer metal trim, so I need to chase one up. I can get it OS, but the shipping fees sux0r...

    Hmm, mk1 & mk2 memories.

I think I have had every thing go worng you guys mention.

Old cars are great, you buy it a new battery it's great for a day then the altenator dies, so it gets rebuilt, but then the belt slips and the mount bends/bolt strips so it never stays tight.

It gets you stuck in Mittagong, then a month later Goulburn later on again in the snowies.

I thought he had shut down. Good to know he hasnt been driven out of business. Another source for my steering rack.

Nice Liam. Keep up the seek and replace efforts. The more you fix, the better it is...

Brian has everything.........and it's always new parts. Feels good buying quality and hard to find bits.

99% of my engine bay is from him........the rest is rust

Yeah a bunch of good stuff on our GTI is from Brian. He's a funny old guy but he knows his stuff and rarely can't get what you need

  35. 10-14-2009 07:40 AM #70
I remember calling him once regarding a part and mentioned I couldnt get it from VW Australia. He literally screamed at me down the phone line for about 2 minutes for not calling him first... the phone speaker was distorting... At least he is passionate...
