Just ordered my wiring harness/steering wheel control harness, I-pod cable, antenna adapter from and install cage EnFig.com
These guys are incredible and a pleura of knowledge about European vehicles. In the end I save over $110 between the Wife and my car on installation kits. They had everything in stock and answered every question I could toss at them.

How bad do you scrape your front end on everything?
That the one thing keeping me from going lower- I already have to angle myself in and out of every curb and parking lot dip just to avoid catastrophic scraping... and Im only on Eibach springs.

No scraping. Very little rubbing, I have some creaking some where in the front suspension during medium to hard turn with bumps

mine creaked when turning when first install but went back to shop and had to tighten bolts on front strut towers. You have to hold the strut and tighten to keep it from spinning. fixed my problem even though the mechanic said that couldn't be it until he heard it didn't do it anymore. good luck car looks great

I'll be honest - it's lower than I expected you to set it to. I think a bit of space (.25" - .5") between the top of the tire and the fender would make it look a bit more classy and a bit less boy-racer, but it's all in the look you're going for.

My original intent was to have a finger gap all around. But the car is able to make it up the drive way without a problem right now.

Temp installed. I'll be trimming the cage a little tomorrow and should have it all installed by late afternoon.
Mic cable / Nav cable and Ipod cable are partially installed.
I'll be installing the mic on the A-pillar.
Nav antenna on the dash, very front corner by the window and A-pillar.
Ipod cable will be in the driverside cubby drawer which will house both the remote and Ipod
I need to bypass the DVD/NAV feature that allows you to do both while driving. E-bay sells a module for $30. I was told that it can be done for about $3 by buying a toggle switch (3 pole)?
Can anybody chim on this and help me out?

OK, spent the last three hours routing/fishing wiring to complete the install. Little trim adjustment and the unit is now sitting pretty damn flush. Still learning and reading about the DNX7140. It is amazing unit from what I have experienced so far.

Little suspension update(K-sport). Had the car aligned and brought back to factory spec's (Larry Miller VW in AZ). So Thursday night we (Jen and I) picked up my wife Father and a couple bags of luggage. The rear tires were continuously rubbing on every single bump, dip and rock in the road (already cut the rear fender liners and dampener were set at 15).
Friday - Had the opportunity to adjust the rear suspension by compressing the rear spring by one full turn on the adjustable rear perch and bumping the dampener to 25 out of 36. Only took about 35 minutes to do. So that night we (father/wife/me/two JRT dogs/plastic dog kennel and 3 luggage bags) ventured on a 4.5 hour drive from AZ to Cali. Let me just start off by saying Wow, The ride was firm but not uncomfortable done. The car felt like it was flowing on air at 90 mph. No mouth guard needed like in my GTI. I beleive the the rear tire rubbed once going up the drive way.

Finally got the missing link to my brush aluminum dash trim. Paul@KefferVW was great help, second time was a charm.
Pedals are pretty damn boring, so I'm going to order some R36 pedals from Katja @ TMtuning.

      Nav antenna location.

      I-pod and control location.

      Complete BA dash trim.

Two road trips back to back without time for a proper washing.

I ordered all my connections from Enfig (great guys) I bought the kenwood steering adapter for $10, allows me to raise and lower the volume and either switch radio stations or select the next I-pod song. I'm not using satellite because I plan on upgrading the 4gb I-pod to a 16gb.

i also have a kenwood touch screen in my car. if you want to be able to have complete function of it while driving, ie like playing dvds then you need to hookup the parking sensor wire from the kenwood to the "Fat Brown" wire in the harness. If you need anymore info i can probably pull my radio out and take a picture.

    25. 04-22-2010 03:51 PM #100
Alright so after i posted my reply this morning i still felt that i should take some pictures to explain what needs to happen in order for every function to work. I have a different kenwood then you but they share the same wires and have the same layout.

Wire harness from the back of the kenwood should have a teal wire that says "PRK SW".

Now the harness from the car look for a "THICK Brown" wire. You dont need to look far. its right in the stereo bay. This is the parking sensor wire that VW uses for there Navi.

By joining those two wires together you will now be able to watch dvds and anything else you would have to be stopped or in park to do.
Hope this helps. There is no need to spend the money for adapters.
