VW had a little supply issue. They are caught up now, and it should be shipping within the next day or two.

I tried installing the spoiler today and I am confused. The instructions that came with it are completely different than what you posted here in your OP. My lip came with a separate diffuser, do I need to install that?

Edit: Just installed it without that black diffuser thing. What is the point of that piece? I see some people adding it and some people not. It seemed like it made the install a lot harder and the instructions weren't that clear.

just installed mine. super easy.
my lip came pre-attached to the adapter, so i could skip those steps in the instructions and made it that much faster.

6 screws out for the old diffuser, 6 screws in for the new one.

everything else went just as shown. will take more pics/angles when i get it cleaned up a bit.

VW had to add that part for whatever reason. We did not install them on any cars prior to the kit becoming available. It is a personal decision on whether or not to install it, but I don't think it is needed.

update vw now has this as part of their painted program. Good news, the price has gone down some. I am now selling the painted chin spoilers for $275.00 shipped within the u.s. (effective 04/05/2010)

ok, so we finally figured out the parts for this. According to vw, it will work for the gti and gtd. The golf and jsw have a different lower panel and do not have the holes. I will work on figuring those out over the next couple of weeks.
so here are the parts needed:
spoiler 5k0-807-110-gru (primed)
spoiler 5k0-807-110-a-9b9 (should be called a retainer, not spoiler)
speed nut n-909-591-01 qty 5
screw n-909-747-01 qty 9
i can sell these (painted) for $350.00 plus shipping.

painted spoiler fits over the edge of the black spoiler (retainer) and snaps into place.


tabs on painted spoiler snap down into the cutouts on the retainer.

insert five (one in each) speed nuts into the square holes and slide into place. Square holes are on the piece of black plastic on the bottom of the bumper.

tabs along the top edge of the painted spoiler line up with existing holes along the bottom edge of the bumper cover.


install five screws through holes and into the speed nuts from above. Four remaining screws go through tabs and into the plastic, where four holes already exist.

we opted to painted it black, or it can be painted to match.

You said my order would be painted today and ship out Monday, does this mean my order is delayed even further?
I don't mind waiting, I would just like to know approximately when to expect it.

I also would like to confirm that I am getting the 2 piece lip which is 1 part painted and the other part black plastic that VW calls a retainer. Do the 2 pieces come pre-assembled?

I have not seen pictures of the final product installed, but I did have one painted matte black for a customer.
