how exactly do you place a phone call? Do the green/red buttons only work for receiving calls, or placing them as well?

with my iphone, i can only place a call with the phone itself. the green button allows me to pick up an incoming call and the red button allows me to hang up on a call. if there is no call, pressing the green button redials the last call. this has been my experience with the iphone, you might be able to do more with another phone.

edited i've since found out that you can make calls through the headunit by holding the call button down. it also allows you to do the voice commands on the iphone 3gs, ie "play songs by the beatles." oddly though, you have to be in any mode (fm/am/cd) but bluetooth to be able to do this.

There should of been a radio code attached to the top of the radio. Just a little white sticker taped to it that says "Radio code".

If not then give me the serial number of the radio should be like a VWZ4Z or a VWZ5Z serial number on the radio

Thanks for posting this link. I have read many posts in the apple discussion forums regard just this issue. It appears to be on apple's end and not on this stereo. I have tracked down a non apple A2DP device to verify this hypothesis. I will let everyone know what the outcome is when I get a chance to test it.

I finally got around to testing another device (ive been very sick the past few weeks). It was a Sprint HTC phone running Windows Mobile. This phone sounded similar to the iPhone in terms of the highs and lows being cut out. Maybe a little better, but it has hard to tell since my friend didnt have the same music on his phone.

how do you get an an ipod to play via bluetooth with this?

also, when you change tracks, can it be done on the dash...or does it have to be changed on the ipod?

Your ipod needs to be Bluetooth capable like the ipod touch is. you turn the BT feature on, press the green button on the radio they will find each other and then the radio will give you a pin number to enter in your phone.

I don't remember about slecting songs i will find out for you.

Only iPhones and second and third generation iPod Touch have bluetooth capability. As far as I know, there's no way to control track advance on the headunit.

The Bluetooth adapter should work fine. But I wouldn't reccomend it. A 3.5mm cable plugged into a line out adapter will sound much better and cost less.

Sorry to be dense folks...has anyone tried this splice to make the trunk cd operational with the volk-l. Also, just to confirm, the channel up/down and volume up/down controls on the steering wheel are rendered useless with the volk-l install?

    Thanks

Yes the steering wheel controls can no longer be used, you can not splice in a trunk cd changer because the physical pins are not their on the back of the new radio.

it will show "1000" on the radio, hit button "1" until the first digit in the "1000" number turns to the number you need for your code, then hit the button "2" and enter the second digit in your radio code and so on until you have all 4 numbers in. Next press and hold the right side arrow in the center of the radio and after 5 seconds it will enter the code.

Feel free to contact me for one we have a ton in stock, I have been pre-pin'ing all the connectors before they go out the door so the end user only needs to do the 2 tee taps.

This is awesome! Finally, a promising alternative to aftermarket stereos ...

It doesn't seem like this unit supports an iPod adapter, though. Has this been confirmed either way? I'd love to be wrong!
