you would have to ditch the phatnoise. I didn't realize so many people still have the phatnoise.

Sorry to ask questions that have probably been answered, but you said:

My sync cable does NOT work with my iphone 3gs. You don't have to use blue tooth, you can use the aux input on the front of the radio also for better quality. I'm not sure if the sync cable would work with a regular ipod but it does not work with an iphone.

The features this radio has are pretty bad arse for what it is but I feel like it looks somewhat out of place in a mk4....... Thats just me.

Installation was simple, just used the diy that's either in this thread or the other one. The wiring harness that comes with it has already been modified for you. I think it looks great in a 3/2/G because of the silver accents that are already there. My only gripe would be the bluetooth streaming quality. It's great for phone calls and talk radio but for your ipod library or internet streaming the sound quality is a little lower then standard radio quality. But you can always just plug in to the aux port for superb quality. The voice recognition with an iPhone 3gs is pretty sweet. I am very happy with my purchase.

Can you run an aftermarket subwoofer with this headunit like the OEM Monsoon headunit?

So this has a front USB port, but you can't play an ipod's music through it?

Does it have a rear CD changer input so you can connect a Blitzsafe Ipod adapter?

I had both of these a few years ago and they are connected to my GLI and my wife's B5.5 Passat double DIN Monsoon heat units. Fit completely within ashtray unit and just as removeable as original ashtray itself. Brushed stainless for mine and polished for the wife's. I just wish I could plug my Iphone into mine sometime but no clearance for it. Thats why I've been looking for another solution.

So it looks like you had a pretty perfect install and have no problems using all the radio's functions (bluetooth, aux, etc.). So I wonder why the vendor said it wouldn't work with Monsoon radios? I would like to get this for my 337...

I think you are mistaken. Only issue is with onstar cars.

Correct, it will work perfectly in your 337. The compatibility problem is the monsoon paired with onstar.

Bluetooth handsfree and audio streaming work fine. Good sound quality. It appears the sound quality issues on streaming bluetooth audio are limited to the iPhone.
