I didn't want to read thru the whole thread again, so forgive me.. but is this unit capable of connecting to a small amp so you could run a subwoofer?

you would need high/low inputs on the amp to tap the rear speaker wires for the radio and convert the signal.

So does that mean it will work and I just need to get an amp that has high/low inputs? Sorry, it's been about 15 years since I played with a stereo system.

I really like this unit but I need to make sure all my existing stock speakers would work with it and I plan on adding one sub and a amp to the mix.

yes it will work, you just need to make sure you get an amp with the high/low inputs on the side. I know most rockford fosgate amps have them.
