Anyone need any 4x100 wheels? I have too many sets of old snowflakes and a beat set of teardrops sitting around in the way. I need to get rid of a few.

      how beat are the teardrops?

They're pretty curbed up and the finish is dull, but I do have the center caps and a brand new set of bolts for the caps. With a little TLC, they could be made into a pretty decent set of wheels. I had plans to sand them down and powder coat them at one point.

Nice. My friend had an '02 and it ground up the gears twice between 15K and 75K miles.

Mine was previously owned by a Subaru tech up in NY... I'm guessing the issues with the tranny were probably fixed along with all the other fixes he did at the dealership.

I'm not making any comments about anyone's transmission issues after my GTI blew a hole in the diff housing.

My Subie never made grinding sounds but it sure felt like something was grinding when I shifted. I sold it off with 105k miles.

Anyone want to meet in January, December is all filled up with Christmas and family stuff.

Hey Chad... did you review some Nankang NS-1's on Discount Tire's website?

I bought my wife's Beetle Turbo (17" wheels) used, and the previous owner had put these tires on just a couple of weeks before. I wasn't thrilled about them at the time, but I have to admit that I've been pleasantly surprised by their performance. I wouldn't recommend them for an extremely aggresive driver, but for daily driving with the occasional spirited run through a twisty road, they are a great low-cost option. The tread compound is a good compromise between weat and dry traction, and is very forgiving if driven close to the tire's limits. I won't be buying a set for my auto-x car, but they are a good option for a daily driven car with larger wheels and low-profile tires.

Congrats on the house. Are you getting settled in yet or do you have to go back to Texas again?

Holidays aren't helping much. Everybody is either in hibernation or off doing the family thing. Crappy weather has been a factor too. I haven't even driven my GTI since mid November because of the rain.

Yep. My writing style tends to be really obvious doesn't it? BTW, I replaced those tires with BFG G-Force Sports. Much better tire for the way I drive Sara's car!
