Thread: fox lifting, not lowering

  1. 10-21-2009 04:17 PM #1
I'm looking for a method for lifting, not lowering my 88 fox wagon.

a guy down the street does this with diesel rabbits that he works on as a way to build a ride with a little more height for getting up rough forest service roads and to push through snow.

he takes springs and struts from passats, i think, and suggests that i pull springs and struts from a quantum, as they may have the correct diameter to fit in the fox.

anyone have any information for me?

I don't think Quantum springs will work. The fronts may - I seem to recall that the struts are the same as the Audi 4000, which work for the Fox.

Stock Corrado springs will fit in front, and should give a fairly significant lift.

Rears will vary depending upon whether your Fox is a sedan or a wagon.

based on the lowering info in the FAQs. 30mm drop springs from the corrado are supposed to keep stock ride height so stock springs should lift 30mm. i would know for sure but i haven't had the time to install the stock corrado vr6 springs i have for my wagon.

corrado g60 is the stated fitment match, but when searching corrado spring sets they all seem to be for both g60 and vr6 chassis. so i got what i found.

they may end up in my sedan but that requires the rear upper spring perch to be swapped with a mk2 piece.

a definitive answer on this would be welcome by a few of us.

if you have a 2 door the upper perches need to be swapped. if you have a four door the perches are the same as the wagons and you can directly swap the corrado springs in.

Anybody have any pics of lifted foxes? Have thought about doing this to mine and making a Baja Fox or Fox Country.

b3 passat wagon springs = mega lift. back set-up is cake, fronts might be a bit more tricky.
Budget $2500. car -$1040 = $1460 to make it better.

I'm considering that with the wagon, tho if I do I'll probably use coilovers so I can go up or down and make any 'country' add-ons removable.

I'm considering that with the wagon...

IMO, it's an almost poitnless endeavor unless you have a LSD to give you some semblence of traction in the slippery stuff... If you ever have one of the front tires (particularly the passenger side) get a little 'light' due to terrain variation at very low speed or at a standstill and you're in slippery stuff and there is any type of grade, the lack of the LSD will leave you stuck.

    Sorry.
