pete, any tips on how to remove the stock bolt? I can't get it to budge at all..

Would it help to jack up the engine just slightly, enough to maybe relieve some pressure?

You may need a breaker bar to get the bolt loose. I know I did on my '08 Rabbit when I installed our torque arm insert.

that might work. its a standard 1/2" drive, so maybe i'll give that a try.

the mr. pitstop worked like a charm. SO easy. love the impact =]

alright so i greased up everything nice and liberally with lithium grease and could only get the insert halfway in. so, i put the large washer on my floor jack and slid it under the car. piece of cake to push it in. torqued it, lowered the car, and took it for a test drive. Total install time, maybe 10 minutes.

    LOVE IT.

First thing i noticed was a little more vibration when starting, but just enough to be enjoyable lol. In reverse the vibration is very pronounced, especially when at a full stop. No biggie though. Driving is so much more fun, accelerating feels cleaner, shifts are quite smooth. cant wait to try the side mount and transmission mounts now!

VERY happy with this mod. Best $40 I've spent on my car.

    driftme,

I'm glad to hear it all worked out in the end.
There are some additional vibrations for the first 50 miles or so. It will tone down a bit with miles logged.

Well got mine in yesterday and installed it this afternoon. Pretty strait forward, remove OEM bolt, insert bushing and torque using supplied bolt. I was kind of skeptic at first because the bushing isnt 'hard' per say but it does the job. Took her for a spin and sure as hell wheel hop is gone in first and second gear. Did a mild launch and got some wheel hop from that but is 10x better then it used to be. Excellent upgrade for the price! Thanks

Hey whats the best way to get that sucker out without damaging it? It is squeeking like a mofo, I must not have used enough grease. I don't want to mess it up by removing it tough.

We've never heard of a torque arm insert squeaking.. Are you sure it's the torque arm?

Well it wasn't there until after I installed it so without further investigation I'm going to say yes I am sure its that lol. I used some tire shine(all I had laying around ) My local dealer said spray it out with break kleen to see if it goes away.

After customer feedback and further testing, we have changed the durometer of the insert to 90a hardness (from its original 98a hardness). This puts this insert to the same hardness spec as our original Torque Arm Insert.

While we feel that the original insert performed well – some customers were unhappy with the increased vibration at low rpms – this slightly softer urethane reduces significantly the vibration while maintaining the performance of the insert.

Its original increase in hardness was to improve full load performance and offset it’s decreased available volumetric area vs. the original (’05-’08) insert. While some customers enjoy the increased performance of a harder material, some dislike its associated slightly increased Noise, Vibration and Harshness.

If you have purchased a previous version of the TSI 09+ insert and are dissatisfied with the NVH created by the mount we would like to extend an offer of a free replacement with the new version of the mount. Please send us an email to sales@blackforestindustries.com and include your information as well as your original purchase order number.

I placed my order on June 15, 2011, 14 days before your announcement. CTS Turbo Order ID 1316. Product ID EBF1783M5T09. It is green color. Is it a 90a or 98a hardness?

It works fine, adds only a slight hint oif vibreation, but there is a lot of vibration on reverse.

If it is a 98a I would like to get a 90a replacement to try. How hard will it be to remove the old one? How do you do it?

My car is an 09 GTI with TSI engine and 6 speed manual.
