Looks like one of La Vibiemme machines. A mob at espressomachines.com.au sells them.

It's even closer to my new dig if Mirvac ever gets around to completing it. I like that whole area btw. When the re-development of the SW sheds complete, it will be real nice there.

Double boiler. Simple, functional and sturdy. Nice.

I always get confused at the sub 3K coffee machine market and end up sticking with what I have. What is the pick in this price range, am assuming this one is up there. But I should be buying KitchenAid, as that is what the thread is all about, right?

There is tonnes to chose from. Most of the machines in this range will be good. The difference is usually in boiler/double/heat exchange etc etc. Some machines are full stainless inside some are not. ECM, Bezzera, Isomac, Expobar etc etc are all good.

No, no, noooo...join me in the "OT: It's OK to buy Sunbeam" thread. $699, which includes a bonus grinder, leaving you with oodles to spend on the "best" coffee...which is what espresso machines are about...aren't they?

No. If you want a good machine for reasonable money, nothing IMO beats Rancilio. It has a proper boiler and doesn't cost an arm and leg to buy.

When the mk1 is costing me less and the house move is completed I will start a poll.

i bought a lavazza blue machine... is awesome if all you want is to use different pods.
Comes w/ 6 lavazza long black cups/saucers, 100 pods to get you started, a temp gauge thing and a silver cup for frothing milk...
turn it on, insert a pod, n out comes fresh espresso coffee.
all for $500....
that stainless steel silver thing would drive me nuts cleaning...

Are the pods unique to Lavazza or is the pod system the same as the Krups/Nespresso one?

We have one at work. Arguably more work than a normal one in my opinion.
