    minor update:

the original heater core hole is gone:

so the mk4 gas pedal could be mounted:

one hole is no more, 173 more to go:

i had one task. drill a hole right in the middle...yes, i'm THAT useless:

3" SS UJ to help the turbo spit a bit harder:

    the new heater core:

the stock wiper linkage is getting modded for single-wiper duty:

    hopefully more to come tomorrow...

    last night, this hole:

moved and got a modded mk1 wiper linkage stuffed into it:

the e-brake handle saga was wrapped up:

one heavily modified mk4 wiring harness:

nothing tonight, but this weekend will see a whole lot of me measuring thrice, cutting once, starting over, getting pushed out of the way, getting laughed at, crying deeply, scoring some coke, eating some chicken strips, bombing the russians...you know, the usual...

so yesterday was about 7 hours of more cutting and welding. i'm thinking of changing the cars' nickname to "patches" or something to explain just how much rot this thing has:

the under dash support bar is tacked in place. this will end up being where bars from the front upper strut towers will connect to, and will be where the steering column is mounted as well as a number of other underdash bits:

more coming today...when the pain and exhaustion subsides a bit...

    nice work holmes....

so did you cut up the doors to fit the dash or do you still have some trimming to do?

    yes and yes.

the driver side door was done about 8 months ago, and we were going to get started on the passenger side, then a bunch of stuff came up, and we didn't get to work on it again.

door cards won't be ready in time, but at least the doors will.

i saw a rabbit VR that Autobahn Speed Tuning built years ago that had a mk3 dash installed in it. the doors were chopped, and they closed with no issue. it was inspiring, and i wanted to have it myself.

    enter the non-cut mk4 dash.

now i have to get my hands on a set of universal electric window winders, as i'm fairly sure that the units from a mk1 cabby won't fit.

this car will bring out the hooligan in me again, i'm sure. we can't let my daughter watch me drive this, or she'll think that shoulders and sidewalks are passing lanes.

I have power windows in my Rabbit, IM me for details on my set-up or there's a thread here in the MKI forums where a guy retrofitted motors to the MKI regulators.
