Ok, so looking around both APR and Revo Tech are having great deals on their software for the Tiguan 2.0T engine.
APR = Fully Loaded ECM + Free install = $599
Revo = Program + Select Plus = $499 + install (likely ~$85 in this area) = $584
OR
Revo = Program + Select = $449 + install (likely ~$85 in this area) = $534
Both claim about the same gains at 93 octane:
APR = 254HP/297Torque (website 93 octane claim)
Revo = 245HP/297Torque (website 93 octane claim
Both come with multiple programs:
APR = Choice of 4 (Stock, 91, 93, 100, Valet), plus security, anti-theft, and fault code erase
Revo Select Plus = Standard 4 (Stock, 91, 93, 100), plus anti-theft
or
Revo Select = Stock and 93, plus Anti-theft
APR has their nice use the cruised control to change settings, and with the security code set it should be hidden from dealer in stock mode unless they go hunting in the ECM. They also claim almost 10HP more gain (but either claim is a best case scenario really). They also seem to offer free upgrades to stage 2 programming when your ready.
Revo requires a hardware device to change settings, which means a little more effort in changing the programs, but it also means the dealer really would have to go digging in the ECM to find out it's been reprogrammed (assuming your running in stock mode for the dealer service). No mention of upgrade deals if later moving to stage 2 programs. (Edit - the following doesn't apply see thread responses below: I also like that there are three custom programs that I can work on tweaking specifically for my setup in conjunction with data logging from my VAG-COM. It is somewhat limited in what you can tweak, but at least it's something.)
It seems that APR is the more frequent go to route here in the Tiguan part of the forum, has anyone tried out or used Revo? Down sides to either?
I'm slightly leaning toward the Revo now, taking the cheaper option I'll still get a stock and performance tune and an easy way to switch between, but at almost $160 less than the APR. My only hesitation is the fact I've never seen Revo's stuff mentioned in this part of the forum. Any opinions/experiences are welcome, thanks.
