Review 1: Vogtland Tec Line Coilovers...

The first impressions of the kit was excellent. From the couple of other coilover kits I have seen/helped install, the Vogtland Tec Lines are very comparable to other options. As I have mentioned in another thread, I would say they are right in line with the ST Suspension Coilover kits from KW Suspensions and slightly below Koni's Coilover quality (material-wise).

The front shocks are approximately 2" shorter than the OEM Equipment and offer plenty of adjustment. The Vogtland springs are roughly 1.5" shorter than the Eibach ProKit springs and feature a progressive spring rate (spring rates are unknown). The kit is only height adjustable (no dampening adjustments for the shocks/struts); however, the dampers are very well complimented for the spring rates.

Level of adjustments are ~3" for the fronts and 1.75" for the rears (1.5" of thread adjustment and 0.25" perch height). From the few levels of ride height that have been implemented, the ride doesn't seem to be affected greatly due to the height level. It does become a slightly "bouncy" with the rears threaded all the way down combined with the fronts down to 0.5" of thread. However, with my current ride height (pics below) of 1.5" thread in the fronts and 0.75 thread in the rear, the ride is excellent.

The Vogtland ride is much improved over of the OEM dampers combined with the Eibach ProKit. The Tec Lines provide a firm, controlled ride as opposed to the soft, unconnected feel of the OEM dampening equipment. Imperfections in the road are definitely noticeable; however, the Vogtland dampers quickly stabilize the spring's compressions and control the rebound exceptionally well. Turn in and out is where the major differences have been noted. The ride handling is now exceptionally planted coming into and out of turns and while the car's body lean/roll has become eliminated. From long sweeping ramps to 90* sharp turns are now handled with much more confidence and stability.

My only complaints thus far are from the softness of the beginning progressive rates of the Vogtland springs. Overall, the range of the springs is excellent and the progressiveness of the springs allows for a sporty, yet still comfortable ride. However, I have noticed some rubbing during 90* turns with a dip. This is most likely due to the springs compressing under the weight of the front end combined with the angle of the wheels/tires during the turn. Nothing that would detour me from purchasing the kit again, but definitely something that should be noted if one takes a sharp turn with a "lean-in bank" on the road.

Summary...I would definitely recommend these to people looking for a daily driver suspension with more sportiness over the OEM equipment. I can't say that I would recommend them to people in harsh-weather climates due to the lack of stainless materials offered in the Vogtland kit. In addition, I don't believe that auto-x members will find the spring rates stiff enough for constant track use. However, for someone looking for DD coilovers on a modest budget, these seem to offer a very comforable, yet sporty ride at a value price.

Sorry for the lack of quality pics (not the best photographer/equipment) and dirty car...

Review 2: TyrolSport Brake Caliper Stiffening Kit

First thoughts...AWESOME!!! These have to be one of the best mods for their price. I have been running EBC RedStuff Pads (both front and rear) since my OEM Pads wore out within ~40k miles. However, since installing them, they have been some of the loudest brake pads I have ever run. Not to mention, the initial bite of the pads has never been great (even after a brake fluid flush). I just figured this was part of the trade off with "performance" brake pads...definitely not the case.

Immediately upon installing the TyrolSport kit, all related brake noise disappeared and initial "brake bite" was increased dramatically. The OEM caliper pins linings are very soft rubber that looked to have dry-rotted during the past 65k miles (the practically feel apart once removed). With the upgraded caliper stiffening kit installed, all brake pad "play" seems to be removed from the equation and the pads now offer their full braking capabilities (due to the pad's surface area being fully contacted against the rotor).

I do realize that these will have to be maintained roughly once a year or so, but the benefits far out-weight that once a year (~20 minutes maintenance). From the improved wear of the brake pads/rotors to the decrease in brake noise, combined with the increased brake performance...I couldn't be happier. This has to be the next logical brake upgrade after pad replacement or combined with a pad upgrade to allow the full benefit of the pads.

Summary...TyrolSport has definitely offered an amazing product for a great price. This would definitely be in my top 5 mods for the money. I don't think I will ever run another VW/Audi without this kit. For users wanting to upgrade their OEM brake equipment without dropping the coin necessary for a BBK, this is a must have combined with upgraded pads, rotors, etc.

Hopefully, these give some decent ideas regarding these two pieces. I apologize for the delay on the Vogtland Tec Line review and appreciate the patience of those who were waiting for the review. Please feel free to ask me any questions and I will do my best to answer.

Height looks good with the car, Tires are tucked nicely, and with your description of the ride quality the kit seems to be well worth it...

I can see the price of this kit rising just like the ST coils.

Thanks...I pretty happy with the stance, too. I might go sightly lower eventually, but not until everything settles in. Completely agreed on the price, too. It's only gone up $40 since I ordered them, but I can definitely see them heading in the $700-$800 (maybe more) in the future. Thanks for your patience as well...hopefully, this gave you an idea of what they're all about.

Yeah, I was really interested to see how your passat was gonna look with the set-up, I drive a jetta so now I'm extra excited about what the vogtlands would do for my jetta. The vogtlands are actually 700.00+ most places now, I spoke with Vogtland-NA, and they said the sale that vogtlandsuspensions.com had was going to be the last and after that They are raising to 729.00 or something like that.
you got the best deal I think anyone is gonna get on these.

Yeah...I really lucked out on finding them for the price I did. Over Labor Day, I think they were just released and were being sold at $595 w/ free shipping. Can't argue with that I guess. I definitely think you'll be pleased with them on the Jetta. Honestly, I couldn't be happier thus far.

The only bolts I changed were axle bolts after pulling the axles out during the installation. However, every bolt on the suspension installation was reinstalled and re-torqued to factory specs with blue threadlock. I did change out both the original mounts and bearings during the coil install; however, 5k miles later, I still have that same front suspension creaking.

from my understanding that creak can be from bushings or motor mounts.. always had that never bothered me. Just dont want nothing to snap, my curb weight is 5k+ =[ dam lux package lol

Yeah...the front suspension creak comes from the upper strut mounts and bushings being complete junk. It's definitely not the engine mounts as I have replaced all of those with aftermarket and never had any noises associated with them (stock or aftermarket). In regards to the bolts breaking/snapping, you will have nothing to worry about as long as you re-torque them back to spec and reinstall with threadlocker that is vibration resistant. Just make sure that you replace the axle bolts as those seem to be the one bolt everyone feels should be replaced.

Nice...I'm still extremely happy with both products. I will say that I'm working with Vogtland to change the front springs to the stiffer 4-mo rates. It turns out that the FWD and 4-mo rear rates are identical; however, the fwd fronts are slightly software than the 4-mo (really not sure why either). However, I feel that the weight of the Auto Tranny is causing me to bottom out every once in a while, thus why I was looking into the 4-mo fronts.

Looks good, and I like the R8's. Could use a little spacer action though. Awesome deal on the coils, that is super budget price for what should be a high quality product.

Been trying to get a set of these for months now.....

I am hearing that Vogtland is getting rid of their tec-line and lowering the price on their regular coilovers.
