I saw that too but I think it is a mk5. Notice you can't see the seem for the rear hatch and the rear bumper seems don't match. Pretty sure it is a mk5.

Glass is never a structural part of a vehicle. If you took the windshield out do they brace the car so that it doesn't flex.... and don't say that it's only out for a bit so it doesn't matter.

And I heard that the pop outs had some problems like it wasn't sealing enough.

Yeah I would be worried about creating a water tight seal without having too much pressure on the window causing pressure cracks.

Most pop out windows have a hole where the assembly attaches to so that you can have the pressure for the seal. I believe his were silicone'd on. I believe he wanted to have custom glass made but it would be expensive.

it's been discussed MANY times before....it can be done, it has been done....they are part of the structural design of the MKIV....and I don't think they figured out the sealing issue, as the OEM units are glued in.

how are they part of the structural design. Thats what I would like to know. Glass even tempered glass isn't as strong as most think.

when they are glued in they add strength to the unibody....they mute some flex and act more like solid side panel.....
