This is a pretty horrible picture but its a Jeep Grand Cherokee (ZJ) that is on a trail in the woods near my neighborhood. It looks like it caught on fire and was left there to burn. I think I have been on a few trail rides with the guy before but he seems to have disappeared

Did you check in his Jeep?

ygstsoul > That is a sad looking bridge to nowhere. Do you have any idea why the cars landed there? Seems way more strange than the average car in the woods.

Also, I like th 63 Chevy, it's too bad it has 4 doors. Which motor is in it? Any idea?

      The T-Bird's not bad too.

Here are a few that I took:

      Mercury:

      Oldsmobile:

      GMC:

      Buick Skylark T-Type:

This 68 Olds was a barn find....it ran great with a little tinkering:

This 57 Chevrolet panel is going to be saved....it was sitting in a field for a while, but is squirreled away in a storage unit :

i was thinking the same thing.. someone walked onto a lot.. saw the car.. and jumped for joy and said i'll take it..

years later.. their stories.. gone.. the owners.. gone.. just the bare bones of the car left to tell the story.. pretty weird if you think about it.. car's are kinda like bodys.. if they sit out too long.. the dna (vin) will fade away.. but the skeleton will be left behind for us to guess at what it once was haha..

      deep thought ;x

anybody else get dollar signs in their eyes looking at this stuff? there's a lot of misc. brightwork and little parts that could be snagged off of some of that stuff as well as whole panels(oval window) not to mention a couple good front clips.

Sadly all of the VWs are gone- the place has been bulldozed. I was able to grab some parts at least. The snowy car in the first pic is still there.

The snowy car is a 1940 Chevy. They can be absolutely amazing looking (in my opinion) when restored. I <3 old Chevy's.

I'm amazed at how many old VW oval window cars you guys are coming up with. I never ever ever see those around here, and you guys have piles of them! Daaaang.

Thanks for the tip, I wondered what it was. It appears to be the "Special Deluxe" model based on that bumper over rider and trim. The car is actually boxed completely in by trees so it's been there a while. I'd love to have it as garden art- all my house came with was 3/4 of an early-60's Dodge flipped over and rusted to nothing in the woods. I'll take pics of that soon.

Not only did this thought cross my mind, but I tried to go back and get some of the stuff off of these cars. The property owner said I had full reign of the place. Needless to say, the only thing I could save was a "w" decklid with a popes nose. It's hanging in my garage, and even that is pretty rusted out.

I tried to get an oval window panel or two but as soon as you hit the car with the sawzall, it literally started to disintegrate. After 30 years in the woods, there's not a lot holding them together.

I'll have to see what I can find from the other graveyard I found. Unfortunately, I was unable to save a blasted thing out of it as the owner was thick headed and insisted that he could get more in scrap ($/lb) for them than he could parting them out. over 500 rare cars died that day!!!!

what is it about old VW's that makes people want to amass fields full of them and just leave them to rot? There seems to be so many of such fields. This thread is giving me a serious

Subaru bought the engine plans from the company, so they could build their own version of the boxer 4 cylinder.

Identify this one. I found it in Hopkinton, MA

Found this in a yard....where it had sat for 10 years. Drove it onto the flatbed.

Found this while off roading in my father's XJ a few years back
Was a 325Xi judging by the front CV's. Burned out. I have no idea how whoever dumped it got it back that far on the trail. The stock XJ with crushed rear leaf springs barely could make it without being abusive.

This had 265k miles with a stopped odo. Bought it for $400 off some guy's farm in eastern colorado where it sat in a field with 4' tall grass. Fixed a fuel line, put a battery in it and changed the gas and oil and it drove out.

I found this old Dart in my woods. There wasn't much left of it, I only knew what it was because I found the grille. Had it been intact and cool looking yard art, I wouldn't have given it to the scrap guy to chop up.
