I know some puristst are going to murder me, but I got the urge to change my car's color a few months back. So I hopped on www.dipyourcar.com and ordered their Pro Car Kit with Matte White and on Friday went to work.

I actually really like it. I need to take some more professional looking pics, but just wanted to throw these up. Don't worry guys it's all reversable and actually looks pretty good.

Looks good man. Pretty scary even knowing it peels off. Did you mask your headlights and tails? Looks like you may have just peeled that off after. Eitherway, looks pretty solid for a change of pace.

Yippy!!!! car is finally boosting like it should. i had been wondering why the car broke up so bad during anything reaching 25 psi and figured it was time for a new set of plugs. changed plugs today to find out that during the last rebuild the builder put ngk brk 7eix gapped to .037... now i dont know them do that considering ive been running denso iridiums at about .025 up to 32 psi. even if i were to use the 7's there is no way theyd suffice at .037 and besides being a heat range too hot they probably experienced blow out.

new plugs are denso iridium, ik 27's, gapped to .025 and the car has responded wonderfully... idles dead flat at 14.7. 25 psi is great and it pulls like a freight train. ordered a new water coolant line from atp finally so thats next. i still need to do some tuning but its pretty healthy right now.

sure does feel good to fix issues....

a week or two ago, i fixed the pcv system which was why the car was pissing oil everywhere. during the rebuild a lot of the system was hacked and not installed properly or plugged. so i remade a pressure tester and pressurised the system to find the leaks. since finding and fixing a few very large leaks the car now holds exactly whatever boost im looking for.

BRK7E is the plug of choice for most built cars... That's what I run ... Actually have 9E's in the car currently ,

But yea if your running more than 15 psi you can't run more than - .030 gap or you'll blow out the spark and experience that fall on your face / breaking up/ feels like its missing for a second or two
I dont want my J-Lines anymore...

ive used them before but on less modified cars and have found the denso's to be more reliable in my high boost/ big turbo applications. going with the 1 heat range colder for every 100 hp addage the 7e's are not sufficient enough for me.

this is what i have traditionally run on my cars

    stock - chipped = brk 6e/ denso ik20
    gt28r @ 368whp = brk 7-8e/ denso ik22
    3076r @ 413whp = brk 8e/ denso ik24
    3076r @ 450+whp = brk 8+/ denso ik24 - ik27

right now im hoping to be 450+ on high boost as my last confirmed dyno was 413 whp with 2 huge boost leaks under the manifold and revo 550 sw on 630 injectors. ive fixed the boost leaks, changed software to maestro 830 with siemens 830's, added water meth and a larger, more efficient intercooler.

right now my limitations are throttle body, intake mani (ABD racing) and head... in that order. they will be replaced at some point but im just excited to be getting things back on the ++ side.

  15. 10-23-2012 06:38 PM #1065
Since when did a 3076r become a big turbo , I thought my 3582r was small :p haha jk... 3076r is prob. The best turbo for a 1.8t.

On a side note... I'm a firm believer in not going colder than a 7-8 unless your in the 550+whp range
I dont want my J-Lines anymore...

Yep, going for the HTA upgrade. Good thing too because I believe mine has just shat itself. Straight from FPs website...

    + TU3076RHTA

    + Upgrade customer's 3037 (3076R) turbocharger with 76mm HTA billet compressor wheel

    + $700.00

Your 3582 upgrade is the same price . I called and talked to a FP rep who said it takes about 4 days for the install not including shipping time so im assuming the entire process would take a good week or so.

  19. 10-24-2012 06:15 PM #1069
    DAMNDAMNDAMN

Called FP again and spoke about my newly damaged turbo. The damage means it cant be upgraded. My options are now...

    1. replace chra
    2. buy new gtx3076r from atp for $1434
    3. buy new hta3076r from FP for $1789 (using my turbine ex housing)
    4. buy new hta3076r from FP for 1999 (complete turbo)

  20. 10-24-2012 11:06 PM #1070
I might be able to get u a deal thru ATP since I used to work for clay (ctsturbo) let me know if u want me to look into it if your serious about buying a new gtx
I dont want my J-Lines anymore...

  21. 10-25-2012 06:16 AM #1071
I'm dead ass serious s my turbo has more seized. I cannot make 1 psi boost. I was going to go with the pricey hta butif I can get a deal, hell yeah id do a gtx. Both are better than stock 3076.

  22. 10-25-2012 07:39 AM #1072
Alright , I'll call clay in Canada today...
I dont want my J-Lines anymore...

  23. 10-25-2012 04:08 PM #1073
Best I can get you is:

    1273$ shipped for a gtx3076r

Just so you know though... That's using your old turbine housing ... I assume you know tho cause atp's is priced without it as well

Let me know if u want it

Okay so I'm back again with another VR question. I've been considering getting cams whenever I have to do my chains(which could be soon, not too sure), anyway the question is other than getting the HD springs is there anything else I'd need to consider with camming a high-mileage vr. I was thinking I might need to get new lifters as well.

Cams: either Autotek 262 or TT 264/260(or 264/263 but haven't look at the specs yet)
Mileage: most likely be around 250k

Yes I would replace the lifters also. They are cheap and might as well while you are in there. I would go with some 268's. They are a superb cam for the vr.

Ahh...I see. I was honestly trying to have to pull the head at all. I have been looking around at some of the different spec and writes/advice people have given and most have suggested tt 268 but I just honestly don't wanna get $1200+ into a cam job just for maybe 20 whp

You don't have to pull the head. You can put air in through the spark plug hole into the cylinder which will keep the valves seated. Pop the keepers off and replace the springs.
