LOVE the fact that Walker is back!

Also does anyone else notice how they always recycle the same material every season? Besides the obvious terrorist plot, there's always:
high level dignitaries having affairs with someone
high level dignitaries being betrayed by someone very close to them
employees of CTU having relationships with each other
employees of CTU always spying on each other as they get up from their seat to walk somewhere else
an employee of CTU with a shady past or shady family member that is threatening to blackmail him/her
Chloe always hacking into other employees' computers

Renee taking off the tracking bracelet..."You can't cut the bracelet."
"I'm not cutting the bracelet..."
I'm gonna love the loose cannon Walker.
Blondie's whole gig with Bubba is already getting old. She's an FBI agent. Go home, cap the butt-munch, call the cops and tell them you found the guy broke in. He has a prison record, she's with the FBI. Who will the cops listen to?

Anyone notice FPjr refer to Jack as Jim in the begging of tonights ep when talking about the encryption.

I guess Starbuck is the new Kim Bauer this season. Hell, I even like the current mommy Kim this season. I guess someone has to take the torch

And damn, Agent Walker has some issues. Wonder if or when Jack is going to match and top the bracelet thing.

I'm thinkin' Starbuck's drama with Billy Bob will create an opening in CTU for the bad guys

Renee was hot when she was standing in the shop talking to Russian guy about serving seven-to-ten.

Yep, given Agent Walker's current profile (that she's of questionable emotional stability at present), I just *knew* that when she first mentioned getting that tracker off, she would chop the hand off instead. Poor guy .. at least he knows how Chase feels now! Heh.I could also do without the silly soap opera melodrama too. That was one good thing about most of last year -- they stuck primarily with the action and not mess around with silly subplots like this "Billy Bob"/Starbuck one.
Liked Jack's Axemen-type kills. Nice to keep up the variety of ways Jack kills evil dudes.
Though they do seem to be recycling some of the methods used. Like the shooting of the girlfriend/wifey in the leg. That's what Jack did to Robocop's wife in S5. And the Russian gang having access to all those guys and the RPG reminds me of being Marwan-esque. And the aforemtentioned CHASEning of the poor Russian guy in the store by Renee.
But when a show has been on for as long as this one, you're bound to be repeating a theme or two.
I still give it a
for the start of this season. It still kept me entertained. Just cut out a lot of the silly melodrama stuff.

Last year it was break into the White House. Stop that threat. Then the thing with the security firm.
This year: The U.N. Stop that. Now the Russians.
And some dumb personal issue with a person in CTU.
Same old, same old. I'll watch it, but I'm not all that interested in the show any more.

Oh, boo-hoo. 24 has been on auto-pilot for years. The key is Jack kills and Chloe mopes.

Crazy Rene is my favorite thing about this season so far.I hope the hillbilly/analyst storyline dies a quick death.

That subplot is one of the WORST ever for 24. Why bother with that kind of garbage for the show?
#85
I was under the impression that the wrist monitor would probably have a pulse monitor on it but I will continue to suspend my disbelief because it's not that unbelievable and it's a way to show just how gone a character is.First four episodes have had a pretty good pace so far, looking forward to seeing more.
One thing I wish this show would do is when they transition from one arc to another, they would do a two episode night to get the new story moving.

That truly sucked too.

...I hope this one ends similarly (IIRC crazy daughter hung herself in CTU).![]()

As a big 24 fan from the beginning, I'm very disappointed this season. I think 24 has run it's course. It's just not original anymore and is becoming a caricature of itself. The new head of CTU is incompetent. Especially after sending a women who has not been undercover in 6 years and tried to kill herself to infiltrate the Russian mob. It's pretty sad when someone like that is still considered an expert on the Russian mob - nothing's changed in 6 years?
The subplot with Dana is just stupid - like she'd really give him her key.
The other data analyst needs to be killed soon. He's obnoxious.
It doesn't say much for the country when the NYPD hires a Russian assassin unknowingly and CTU hires a person with a past (Dana). Good vetting process.
I just don't care about any of the other characters.
And, how would they have figured out it was the brother who was the insider when they realized it wasn't the reporter? Why not the wife, daughter, bodyguard, etc. I must have missed something there.

Like when the brother stuck a knife in someone's neck and ran off?

I just wonder how Jack is fine after being beaten to a pulp by the cop only 45 minutes earlier. And Freddie Prinz gets out of a blown up car, and he's fine too.

I figured the brother thing would probably be that the assassin figured the gig was up and phone records would link the two.

Why not just stay cool for a while and then slip out in a more quiet way? As far as he was concerned nobody would have immediately found out it was him.

I see your head of CTU/crazy retarded daughter subplot and raise you a "new hobbit director of CTU/crackhead sibling" subplot.
speaking of crazy retarded daughter of CTU head, what season was that from? I only started watching 24 since season 5.

Why does the new head of CTU, always look like he is looking down....as if he has no neck....that stuck out to me

He was also in the movie Heat.

I think he said they would figure it out, not that they already had at that point.Regarding chopping off body parts, I don't think they can top the first hour of season 2.

I think crazy Renee is the only original thing this season. Everything else is recycled. I like crazy Renee, it's nice seeing jack afraid of someone else instead of everyone being afraid of Jack.

I understand that point of view. But to me this is a case of "if it ain't broke don't fix it." Jack's a one man show. He doesn't need a sidekick. But this is FOX, so obviously they will give him one with a nice rack... anything to increase viewership ratings.

Unfortunately I can see them turning Renee into Jack's love interest later this season, which only adds to the sappiness that they started with all the grandpa stuff.

Let's face it, Jack probably went from six to midnight after Renee tortured that guy last season.
