I went out yesterday. Not sure on the miles but I had fun.

had to take a picture of this sign. I'll have to hike the trail one of these days to see what it is like.

50.00km today! Not a bad improvement. The plan was for 20km since I felt fatigued, but I looked down at the computer and it already said 22km... and then I have to go home... so 50km it is.

I always drop at 20km or 25km... then maybe rest for a few minutes, then the riding after that feels very weak, but I notice I'm hitting higher speeds and dont notice being fatigued - I feel very tired, but can continue, if I don't pay attention to that. Does anyone else respond that way? 45 minutes of whining, bitching, complaining, then no problems for hours after that? What training or recovery methods do you use to get over this strange block?

    Computrainer class today.

    HARD class with hard intervals.

    7x5' -- 30" all out, 4' @110% FTP, 30" all out, 3' rest between intervals.

I popped in the fifth set. Limped in as best I could for the last two.

I do have an excuse, though: had the 24-hour flu over the weekend, and it killed my appetite for a few days. Looked at the app I'm using to track my weight loss and realized I consumed fewer than 3,500 calories total since Saturday morning. No wonder I popped -- had absolutely no reserves.

Feeling back to normal today -- time to go eat.

No posts since Tuesday -- nobody riding these days?

Seventy-four miles today through rolling hills of Virginia horse country -- about 3,800 feet of total gain, averaged 16.2 mph.

Would have been faster, but one of the stronger riders just had a really bad day today and was flirting with the bonk around mile 50, so we eased up.

Longest ride of the season to date -- legs felt it when I tried to climb the stairs when I got home!

Just a note to everyone. If you have the aches, pains, and feel the onset of a cold, don't think riding will make you get over it quicker. Did only 22 miles, felt great, got back, felt like death.

Still trying to recover from weekend riding in WV. Way too much climbing for me.

The last two days commuting ive been trying to recover spinning my legs trying to keep the HR under 130bpm. Plan on racing a short crit Saturday morn.

Been training pretty steadily with three hard efforts & usually one tempo ride per week for close to three months. On vacation with my family -- time for a week-long break (except for a couple of spins on the hotel's stationary bike). Fun starts again Saturday with a 70+ mile ride with 4,000+ feet climbing (Mt Weather & Naked Mountain for the locals).

been training steady for a Sprint Triathlon in June. Swam on Monday, Ran yesterday, going to ride today. If my legs feel good after my ride, I'm going to try to do a little running, get that "brick" thing in gear.

    About a 68-mile ride today.

For the locals, rode both Mt. Weather and Naked Mountain -- thinking the total gain was somewhere in the neighborhood of 5,000 feet.

Still getting used to these climbs -- very, very hard!

I did part of the rogue flahute today. It is our area's version of a spring classic (only it's a friendly ride instead of a race) this year it was 112 miles 35 of which were on dirt roads (no pave' here). I made it 25 with the group and broke off and did another 20 solo since I didn't want to do anymore dirt. The best part was riding in the group of about 40 people on some of my favorite back roads.

Got out for 44.50 miles today. Did about 4 good climbs and fought the good fight with headwinds

34 mile training loop today, 17.2mph average. Leave my house in the city, two circuits of the BWI airport trail and then back home (wind usually at my back on way home). Probably a few hundred feet of gain, not any real climbs. Looking forward to some steeplechase-country rides in the county in April, some good climbing up there.

As promised, 47.5 miles on Skyline Drive.

For the locals, we met at Dickey Ridge welcome center, rode down to the entrance and rode back up the four-mile hill to our start point meet some late-comers (not fun to start the day with a four-mile climb first thing with no warm up!). Then we rode to Elk Wallow rest area and back.

About 5,500 feet of total gain today.

The hills are long, but not very steep -- lots of two to three mile climbs at five to six percent. I spun up pretty well, generally holding a cadence of 75-85, but by the end I had trouble holding that cadence and chose to drop to 65-75. When I was really tired dropped it down to 62 or so, and just got into a grind mentality. Was uncomfortable, but never in trouble.

Worst was my lower back tightening up badly at the top of the longer climbs. Need to do some core work.

No real steeps that made me cry or explode -- just lots of very long climbs that made me wonder when the hell they would end. Of course, that also meant lots of long downhills at 35-40 mph....

Might do it again next week -- maybe go a bit longer.

Couldnt make it to my ALC "day in a ride" 75mile ride today because my car's oil filter housing decided it wouldnt hold the seal and dumped a big load of oil puddle overnight. Issue resolved after a visit to my mechanic (luckily open on sat am.) Went for a 45mile ride instead locally, which gained me some uphill training. Short of 30miles but hey, better than nothing!

15 miles. 40 mph wind gusts got the best of me and I called it in early.

I did a group ride for just a bit over 45 miles. I felt really strong and was one of the first up the hills which felt great. I may go out for a short mtb ride today since the weather is perfect.

40km (25 miles) today and same yesterday. It started to rain, so I called off the last 10km.
After about 20 or 25km I just fall off... how do you guys do these longer ones without running out of gas?
