solo 28.2 miles tonight since the sat group A ride will likely be cancelled tomorrow.. Rode one of my shorter loops in reverse direction at a pretty easy pace. Ended up averaging 19.0 mph. Cant believe how early it's getting dark..

how many calories are you burning on a ride like that? What are you bringing with you/eating to keep from bonking out?

Wuss, you didn't even ride back!!!

Let's argue this the American way; volume, proximity, and repetition.

I had 5 bottles of water, 1 bottle of gatorade, 1 pack of shot blocks, 1 bag of shot roks, at mile 87 I stopped at subway and had a 6 inch chicken parm with a small bag of chips and 30 oz of coke. In my ride link it should say how many calories I burned.

      Best. Diet. Ever.

I burned close to 3k calories today as well. I'm about to go to a BBQ where I am going to everything in sight.

I love being a bike racer.

      hell yeah!!

I actually have started to gain weight again just a little bit. Perhaps I'm eating too much and too poorly again.

yea, she's pretty fanatical about what she eats, uses an app to track everything. She's just starting to get into cycling too since she wants to ride with me. Got her an old steel Schwinn with stem shifters. Told her if she likes it and rides enough we'll get her something nicer.

Went for an AMAZING ride today. Went on roads that I have never been on in the 6 years I have lived in this town. SO much fun to be out on a new route 54 miles and I had to ride the last 20 or so with only my small chain ring as I broke my deraiuler cable

I would have hand rotated onto the big ring. But again, I live in plywood flat south Jersey, so realistically a Track sprocket setup is actually something you can get away with.

I did a 50 mile group ride this morning. It was a lot of fun (minus a couple long hills) now I am checking over my cross bike so I can run it in a STXC race in a couple of hours. That's what I call a productive day off.

If the fd cable breaks, there is nothing to oppose the spring in the derailleur, so it will just snap back into the small ring position. You would either need to jam it in position with a rock or something, or adjust the limit screws to set it in that position.

A 39-12 is a rather steep gear and is still good for 26 mph with a comfortable cadence. All this goes out the window if you've got a compact though.

I used to log everything I ate as well. It is really awesome for becoming aware of what your diet looks like on a day-to-day basis. Although I can only ever do it for a week at a time, because it takes a bit of work and dedication. It helps modify behavior though, for sure.

And it's awesome that she wants to get into riding. I am looking for some clipless pedals with platforms on the other side to throw on my girlfrien's commuter so I can start taking her on my super easy recovery rides. She rides but she only does it out of necessity.

Headed out west to Portland this weekend. Managed to get 1 really nice ride in with my friends out there (wedding killed my ride every day dreams). Did 40 miles out into the hills up Saltzman and looped up around Rock Creek. Back out skyline to town right to the farmers market at PSU. Ended up a little over 40 for the day. All on an old bianchi cross bike lol. Wish I could have rode more but we were just too damn busy.

Planned a 45mile roundtrip- had a flat tire at 31mile- forgot my c02 discharger, broke brass stems off both the used tube, and the spare using a hand pump
Luckily my roomy played bike TripleA

      Wow, lucky you!

Similar thing happened to us this weekend. 5 miles from home, my brother got a flat, and we had nothing to help him out. We decided to be good sports and we all walked the last 5 miles home. Those shoes are not made for walking.

48 miles 3300' climbing today. Last day of vacation so I figure I'd get a decent ride in.
