60-miles with three friends, as a small group. -I pulled 25 miles. Some rollers in the middle.

After work, getting dark out there fast. Felt great on a segment, picked up 15 seconds on it and confident I can makeup the additional 4 to claim KOM.

they're steppin' on my rhythm and they're stealin' all my lines

Solo ride today. Very windy, before the rain started.
    Still enjoyed it. :thumb up:

Nice 5 mile ride on a decent loop; it was nice to get out before the traffic started up. Definitely not getting as winded as I was before and times are coming down from when I first started riding again about 3 weeks ago. Nothing too major yet but already feeling better. Set myself the goal of the 50km (at least, but want to stay realistic) Tour De Cure when it comes to Napa in May. Slowly but surely I'll be creeping up to the level of this forum.

    Picture this:

Leave the family early on a picture-perfect South Florida Saturday morning to get in a short ride....
    • on a new trail
    • at a never-been-to park in the middle of no where
    • with no other riders in sight
    • knowing full well that the trail probably has lots of deep standing water
    • having just been told an alligator-sighting story at another trail in South Florida this past week
    • knowing that snakes love standing water in South Florida
    • the center shock on the new Rumblefish needs air and is currently bottoming out

Not that I'm a vah-jean or anything, but I gotta say that I had a bit of trepidation.... not knowing where the heck I was....where I was going.....what to expect.....vagrants? snakes? alligators?

    Geeeeeeeeeezsch!!! Any good news???

Well, I survived this morning. The shoes got a bit soaked, but otherwise.... a fun ride.

Explored some local roads from my house today. Next ride will be 60ish miles. Working towards a century by the end of the year:

Here is the route of a century that I have done for the last 5 or 6 years in your area. I am planning on doing it again this year if everything works out. It is a pretty good size group.

Looks like a good ride. I have some friends over in Pinellas that ride a ton of stuff over there. Eventually I'll make my way over to check it out.

We took the park-like Henry Hudson Drive once we got over the GW. That stretch was just amazing (with a KILLER climb at the end).

Agreed. Henry Hudson and then 9W are incredibly scenic! Wish I could go back and ride them.

Thanks Tim. It was a wet cold day today, I just did not have enough to get the win. Had to settle for 2nd place overall. I have done this race 7 different years and have been 2nd over all three years, I did win the overall in 2010.

Having not been on the bike in two weeks since the 100k at the top of the page, went out yesterday for another:

    http://www.mapmyride.com/workout/190773137

Flat as a billiard table, the only climb was about 45 feet for a highway overpass!

So today's ride wasn't 100 miles with major elevation changes (unless you count my driveway ), and it was only a fraction of my normal 5-7 mile rides, but I did complete my first mile in clipless pedals and shoes. Practiced a little bit yesterday and wasn't so sure about the setup, but today went really well for my first actual ride (as long as I reminded myself I was clipped into the pedals ).

Ride for today: Only a one mile jaunt around the neighborhood, but the start of even more riding.

First ride on the new cx bike. Mixed gravel/shell, paved, with mostly singletrack. Took it easy in the rooty parts. Need to readjust my riding style...too much bottoming out on the rim.

I just finished a ride. My butt is still getting used to riding. I did about 70 miles over two weeks with the original seat and I was still hurting. I plan on touring this winter, so I figured I better get a Brooks B17 and start breaking it in. Tonight was my first ride with it. Hopefully it'll allow me to start doing MUCH longer rides.

I was going to suggest maybe changing the angle/cant of the seat/saddle; I was hurting after the first week riding again and realized just by changing the height/angle, I'm comfier than ever. However, I still am looking at newer saddles. Those B17s looks great btw!!

The old and new saddles are nearly horizontal. I thought about tilting the old saddle to move me back towards the beefier part of the saddle, or at least make it a little easier to sit where I wanted to sit.

Even so, the B17 is so highly regarded for touring that I figured I might as well get one now instead of trying to force another seat to work. A foam seat is only going to get worse over time, while the B17 apparently gets better as it ages.

One thing I noticed on my ride last night was that I wasn't in a rush to finish my ride. I slowed down slightly because I wasn't as concerned about getting home before the pain was unbearable.

I really haven't heard any bad about the Brooks offerings; I'm only doing about 5-7 miles each day, but so far I haven't had too many issues with the stock saddle other than getting the angle/position right. Oddly enough, today was one of the first times I've gotten numbness when riding, but was in same position and same routes as before.

Did a nice vineyard route today 6.55 miles in 29:04, one of my better times! Trying to get a good cadence going and find the sweet spot for pace and stretch the distance.

Properly wild 25km of commute back home today, with winds of 55km/h plus heavy rain.
Trying to slow down was "interesting" to say the least. Then got swooped by a magpie.

All that before I saw a tree which fell down right across the path I ride on.

I just finished up my longest and fastest ride. Almost 3 miles further and I think over 1 mph faster than my best ride yet. I'm not really sure on the speed because my gps was counting breaks against my moving avg. I still have a long way to go though.

Nice!! It's always a great feeling looking down and seeing the distance has increased but the time has decreased.

Did the NYC MS ride this past Sunday, riding through the Holland Tunnel was EPIC fun Only drama was a flat tire in Palisades Interstate Park, nothing that a few minutes of tube swappin' couldn't fix:
