Hey everyone, I'm looking for some help please. I was told this week that my job is being moved to Kennesaw in 2011. It'll be located near the Town Center Mall and Kennesaw State University. What's it like up there? How's the VW scene? Any big shows? Air-cooled events? What are good places to live? What are the places to avoid? Is there any vehicle emissions testing?

This is a huge decision for me and my family, and I'm trying to get as much information as possible until I have to make a choice. So, I really want to hear from those of you who live there. Give me your best and worst things about the area.

what up. the big club around here,ATL, is durtydubs. the closest show is an hour north of downtown called SOUTHERN WORTHERSEE. very cool show. all types of euro. on its 5th year, i think. not to many aircooleds though. more of mk4/mk5. i think atlanta is a great city in most parts. tons of things to do and cool places to go. anywhere along 75 on the northside of town is probably the best place to setup shop. stay away from I-20 and 400;traffic is a bitch! i live in marietta (next to ken). i have nothing against kennesaw its just not the kind of people i want to be around. emission testing...YES. hope this helps.

As for air cooled shows, there is Bug-a-palooza which is both air & water every April in Chattanooga. It's a great show, this year will be 12 years running.

Kennesaw isn't a bad place to live and if you don't mind commuting, you can move further north to Acworth or cartersville for better home prices.

Trying to be different, just like everyone else.

Kennesaw and the surrounding areas are great places to live, the main road that connects Town center and KSU is George Busbee pkwy, its a decent road to live off of. West of KSU beyond Hwy 41 is upper middle class, more yard, more house, extra driving time to get places. East of KSU is middle class, comfy homes, close neighbors, neccessities are within 5-10min radius, lots of baseball parks. North is similar to West. South is where you run into Barrett Pkwy which is hell, expect accidents, everything within walking distance but not always walker friendly . Expect trailer parks littered throughout.

I was born and raised in kennesaw, and i've got no real complaints about the area. The neighborhoods are pretty nice for the most part. The people aren't really that bad and there is definitely a lot of stuff to do if you've got little kids. Parks, and kennesaw mountain are pretty popular and the cobb county school system is typically ranked better than the surrounding counties. The only bad part is Kennesaw's finest are pretty strict about speeding, and KSU cops are pretty strict all around(boredom I guess). All in all it's a great place for a family, at least I turned out normal

depends on the week and what people have going on. maybe 4 people, maybe 12, maybe more?
seems like there is usually someone there though. even if it isn't a huge group.
