Subtle G-Shocks? Is there such a thing?

  2. 02-02-2012 03:49 AM #72
Yep, I need it for shooting courses, and wearing in uniform at work...not to mention I don't care for almost anything flashy. I've got my eye on a couple after looking them up. Most of the black military models.

I want the tough, not the flash.

this is what i have and replaced the orange band with a black one to make it more practical. i don't think it's flashy at all.

I'm going for a cheaper model because it's going to get beat up if I wear it during shooting courses etc. My problem is I'm a thin guy, and most of these things are freakin' huge. Some don't even list sizes on their page which is annoying. Will post up if I grab one.

I've got a 1289 in all matte black, it's pretty stealthy for a 48mm fatass everything proof watch

    It's a DW-5025B, one of the 25th anniversary models.

Edit: And now that I have seen it, I am tempted to get one. Oh great!

I got mine last year for just under $300 through an eBay retailer. Just looked on eBay now and had no idea how much more they cost now. I think the higher premium has to do with the ones selling now are japanese versions compared to the American model I have.

Anyone have any suggestions for cleaning the edges of the face where it meets the bezel? Mine has been accumulating a fair amount of gunk and can't seem to find a good way of cleaning it off.

The stuff is pretty stuck there. Can you recommend a good cleaning agent to put on the Q-tip that would be safe?

Just an update. I was able to remove the bezel and really get at the gunk. I tried rubbing alcohol, goof off, 409, nail polish remover, nothing worked. Finally used a razor blade and it now looks good as new.

Don't know how I missed this thread.

I bought a white one on March 4 and have pretty much lived in it ever since.

Wear it to work, to jog, to work on the car, when I go out, etc.

I also bought the girlfriend a Nixon on the same day and the G-Shock has lasted so much better than the Nixon.

The Nixon is discolored whereas the G-Shock just has a few little blemishes. I clean it a lot with soap, water and a Q-tip.
