Oh boy, do I have an e21 story for you all.

My best friend was looking for a car, and it turns out his family friend had "some BMW" sitting in his apartment building's parking garage, it was his, but he hadn't driven it in about 10 years, he just kept paying the parking for it, so he gave it to my friend before we even knew what it was.

We went to check out the car and it was a MIIIIIIINT condition alpine white e21 with a blue interior, completely flawless, not a single dent, no evidence of rust, no fading paint, no tearing or sagging in the seats, no wear in the carpet, no sagging door cards, it was a little dusty, and the tires were flat, but other than that, there was literally no flaw with the car cosmetically speaking. To sweeten the deal, it only had 60k miles on it, and came with the original tool kit, all the tools, and all originals manuals and parts catalogs... All for the very reasonable price of exactly $0.

We were stoked. But as we walked up to the car, a rat the size of a horse comes galloping out from under the car (this was no scurry, this was a ****ing gallop, this thing was biblically huge), we figured that couldn't be a good sign, so we looked it over... We opened up the hood, and it was immaculate, the shock towers were just as clean as the outside of the car, the engine looked nearly brand new... Well... Except for the rat's nest on the intake manifold made out of old chicken wings and bread...

So I puked, we towed it home, let it sit for a few days cause we were too terrified to touch it, in case any more horse-rats were living in it. But then we washed it, got gas masks and gloves, and spent 3 days cleaning the engine bay.

We got it running, but never all that well, the rats had gotten to bits of the wiring harness, and it wouldn't have taken forever to solve all the tiny little problems... It had so much potential though.

    Wow...I had no idea.

That first blue one....then the mont green on the Alpina wheels...and the brown in the mop shots.... :eek

I'll never fail to be impressed how well older european cars stand the test of time. An american car from 5 years ago already looks cheap and dated inside....

Went to a junk yard today and saw 3 or 4 E21s...surprised to see so many. They still look very solid, including the interiors. Oh, and their speedo only goes to 80mph
