Do you like Nagelfar? The good one from Germany (not Naglfar). Their album Hünengrab im Herbst is epic.

I've been on a huge Ulver kick lately too. Burgtatt (first studio album) is pure epic black metal. After that, they kinda get kinda a J.G. Thirlwell/Foetus vibe that can only be explained as really weird.

Hell ya it is. I almost want to call it progressive black metal it's so epic. Virus West is decent too.

from what I can gather the U.S. release does not have the song "The Sinking Belle (White Sheep)" version, which is my favorite track off that album, and was limited to 10,000.

The Japanese release came in a huge boxset, limited to 1,000 and does have "The Sinking Belle (White Sheep)" version

Nice - I picked this up on Saturday:

Austere - Only the Wind Remembers

    Some great doom from Australia.

I've got a bunch of high end vintage audio gear I'm clearing out, restored Marantz 4270 - better than new condition; Pioneer SX-5590, 8/10; Concept 16.5, 8/10 cosmetically - 10/10 function. Various high end vintage speakers: Rectilinear Research, AR, Kenwood, Infinity, McIntosh, Leslie 251. PM me for details, clearing out to finance home theater upgrade.

    uuggghhhh.

just picked up the 2x cd Death - Human album remastered by Scott Morris.
Sounds like a whole new album. DiGiorgio's bass lines are clearly audible, Reinerts monster drum fills are way more apparent. Vocals are cleanly separated and everything sounds less muted than the original. I've got the original LP, cassette, and cd and am quite familiar with all the nuances of the original recordings. This new one just blows it out of the water and for the most part almost all new death metal stuff. Cant believe it's 20 years old now and is still frighteningly fast.

Reading the liner notes, Reinert and Digiorgio recorded their parts in one live take per track. Reinert and Masvidal were also 18 years old when they recorded it. Level of musicianship was so insane.

    3x cd:

Disc 1: (classic remixed and remastered "Human" album)

    01. Flattening Of Emotions
    02. Suicide Machine
    03. Together As One
    04. Secret Face
    05. Lack Of Comprehension
    06. See Through Dreams
    07. Cosmic Sea
    08. Vacant Planets
    09. God Of Thunder (Bonus Track)

    Disc 2:

    10. Flattening Of Emotions (Basic Instrumental Studio Tracks)
    11. Suicide Machine (Basic Instrumental Studio Tracks)
    12. Together As One (Basic Instrumental Studio Tracks)
    13. Secret Face (Basic Instrumental Studio Tracks)
    14. Secret Face - Part 2 (Basic Instrumental Studio Tracks)
    15. Lack Of Comprehension (Basic Instrumental Studio Tracks)
    16. "Felt Good" - Studio Snippet
    17. See Through Dreams (Basic Instrumental Studio Tracks)
    18. See Through Dreams - Part 2 (Basic Instrumental Studio Tracks)
    19. Vacant Planets (Basic Instrumental Studio Tracks)
    20. Cosmic Sea (Basic Instrumental Studio Tracks)
    21. Cosmic Sea Part 2 (Basic Instrumental Studio Tracks)
    22. God Of Thunder (Basic Instrumental Studio Tracks)
    23. Flattening Of Emotions ("Human" Demos)
    24. Lack Of Comprehension ("Human" Demos)
    25. Suicide Machine ("Human" Demos)
    26. Together As One ("Human" Demos)
    27. See Through Dreams ("Human" Demos)
    28. Secret Face (Instrumental - "Human" Demos)
    29. Vacant Planets (Instrumental - "Human" Demos)

    Disc 3:

    30. See Through Dreams (w/ Paul and Sean) (Rehearsal January, 1991)
    31. See Through Dreams (Take 2) (w/ Paul and Sean) (Rehearsal January, 1991)
    32. Secret Face (w/o Paul - 1/2 song) (Rehearsal January, 1991)
    33. Secret Face (Take 2) (w/o Paul) (Rehearsal January, 1991)
    34. Secret Face - Riffs (Rehearsal January, 1991)
    35. Flattening Of Emotions (Riffs) (Rehearsal January, 1991)
    36. Lack Of Comprehension (Riffs) (Rehearsal January, 1991)
    37. Lack Of Comprehension (Take 2) (Riffs) (Rehearsal January, 1991)
    38. Cosmic Sea (Riffs w/ Drum Machine) (Rehearsal January, 1991)
    39. See Through Dreams (Rehearsal August, 1990)
    40. Suicide Machine (Rehearsal August, 1990)
    41. Together As One (Rehearsal August, 1990)
    42. Suicide Machine (Drum & Bass Tracks)
    43. Together As One (Drum & Bass Tracks)

oh yea, and Hooded Menace's last album is insanely awesome.

for fans of old death/doom like Morgoth, My Dying Bride, Paradise Lost with the crushing sound of old Stockholm Swedish death metal bands like Dismember and Entombed.

I'm always on a huge Ulver kick.

I listen to the Trilogie all the time. I've always liked Nattens Madrigal better than Bergtatt.

Lately I'm listening to The Beast Of The Apocalypse.
I'm pretty stoked to heard the new Azarath, too.

I guess "my" music belongs here. Grindcore is popular with about twelve people on the planet, so I accept it isn't for anyone.

    Magrudergrind
    Phobia
    Genghis Tron
    Napalm Death
    An*l C*nt
    Extreme Noise Terror
    Brutal Truth
    Primate
    Capitalist Casualties
    Arson Anthem
    Carcass
    The Berzerker

although I do dig some other sub-genre(s) like

    The Black Dahlia Murder
    White Chapel
Through The Eyes of The Dead
    Brain Drill
    Six Feet Under
old Cannibal Corpse (w/ Chris Barnes only)
Torture Killer (w/ Chris Barnes only)

Yeah, I love Laudanum. Are you going to the Eyehategod, Brainoil, Laudanum show on August 12th? Definitely a not to miss show. I have been talking to Greg(Brainoil/ex-Laudanum) about them coming down here. Hopefully that happens soon.

I really want to cruise up for POTR to see Noothgrush. I am too damn poor though. The lineup down here is pretty solid as well.
