talk about dropping all the money at once. Wish i was that loaded. I'm in love with everything except red mirror bases.

Actually if you read correctly you'd see I've been accumulating and buying parts for years for this car.
I have new mirrors to go on the car, so no more red mirror bases.. I don't like them either

3. 02-07-2010 08:06 PM #28
Yeah I didn't read. I was thinking that after i posted, because you have had the car for so long and the title makes sense. Sorry.

You still never said anything about it really. I must be missing it. Can't wait to see it done, though.

It honestly has not been on the road since 2005.. and I lived in Westport back then so wasn't in the New Haven area much I can assure you you'll see the car on the road this year!

Why havnt i seen this car in 2005. i been driving through there to get to work in Norwalk when traffic was heavy on I-95. i think i had my side dump exhaust on my 88 16v at the time.
G/L and Keep up the good work.
If it's worth building, it's worth over building.

That would do it haha. I'm actually in Cheshire myself, but I don't have an awesome VW mk2 build going on right now, because my other mk2 needs to be restored lol. (1984 Supra)

sorry for the complete lack of updates recently.. life has been crazy busy and everything has taken a little longer than expected!
yesterday was finally the day to take the shell over to the body shop, its completely stripped and ready to go.. i unfortunately found some unexpected rust behind the rear fender flares but nothing that can't be fixed..
heres a few quick shots before it got towed out.. should have some updates later this week from the body shop..

i'm doing a 2.0 swap into a MK2 right now and the wiring looks just like that last picture. crazy ****.
you aren't messing around though, very nice parts you have there. 2.0t's are a lot of fun especially in MK2's.
don't let anyone tell you its a worthless swap. I've proved a few people wrong
SalsaGTI will tell you the same thing

thanks man.. the wiring is a mess, i'm going to start stripping the wiring harness for the engine bay to extend it through the fender.. fun fun
i'm all about the 2.0, why go 1.8t when you can go 2.0t? i've seen quite a few killer 2.0 setups pushing plenty of power, so i'm pretty excited to get it on the road with an additional 150hp hehe

I'm doing my ABA swap now too, just got everything off the front end of the mkII, not looking forward to the wiring either. Looks good tho, man. ABA turbos are dope, never cared for vrs myself.

Nothing too exciting update wise, but found this photo funny.. this is probably 12 hours work of seam sealer removal and engine bay clean up!

Car is at the body shop now, should have some photos this week with some body work updates.
I started taking the engine apart yesterday, got the tranny and exhaust manifold off. Going to get it mounted to my engine stand today and get working on the turbo.. woohoo!

Hate to burst your bubble, but fresh tornado red has a nice orange tint in the sunlight.. the front end is not the proper color... you might want to take into consideration that the crappy single stage is almost 20 years old.
