Went by my favourite local indie shop yesterday, and dropped another C-note :S

Bon Iver, The Knife, Great Lake Swimmers, and I finally saw Neon Bible in the flesh so had to buy it.

    ahhh The Knife

Got this off of ebay today

    The Falcon - Unicornography

    and

The Lawrence Arms - Buttsweat and Tears 7"

I also did a preorder for a new pressing of Lifetime - Hello Bastards on gruesom green vinyl and ordered a fresh copy of Propagandhi - Less Talk More Rock on blue vinyl.

I am on vacation in Cali and hit up Amoeba Hollywood, Amoeba San Fran, Amoeba Berkeley, Rasputin in Berkley, Origami in Echo Park (LA), and Headline in LA. 21 LPs, five 7"s, and an 8" later and I have a few more stores to hit up in Haight before I live. Will make a report when I return home

if you are in SF still definitely hit up Aquarius Records on Valencia in the Mission District. It's more of an indie/metal store though, but has a lot of cool hard to find stuff. Amoeba is where its at for vinyl in SF/Berkeley though

Nice! You should have checked out Vacation Vinyl in LA as well. They have great stuff there.

Aquarius is definitely cool, but not for everyone. Lots of doom/noise there.

Most of what I picked up was Indie anyway so i'll definitely check out Aquarius. There are a few more record stores on Haight that we walked by but didn't stop in.

Amoeba has been great, but Rasputin had more hard to find stuff, such as a Dr. Dog 7" I have been trying to find with a cover of Heart it Races by Architecture in Helsinki.

Amoeba is the only worthwhile record store on Haight.

You won't need it then, unless you just want to have everything they release It's a 'best-of' from 89-99, remastered.. sounds really good!

I think I may have stumbled upon an Easter Egg on St. Patricks Day. Side D of Amputechture seems to play over and over at the end without the normal skipping sound. I noticed and let it play for several minutes today.

I scored an interesting record if any of you are Joy Division/New Order and/or The Smiths fans. I know alot of you are younger and don't stray alot from the newer indie stuff but, I feel this is a pretty important record.

In the late 1980s and early 1990s Bernard Sumner teamed up with Johnny Marr and made some dance music. They also collaborated with Neil Tenant and Chris Lowe of the Pet Shop Boys and Karl Bartos of Kraftwerk during that time.

Getting Away With It was the first single from the supergroup called ELECTRONIC. It is a 12" and features extended and instrumental versions on side A and some remixes and a B-side on side B. I paid $4 for it and it is extremely mint and includes the original non static plastic record dust sleeve.

I was talking with the owner because he always starts a good conversation with me because I buy weird stuff he likes. We talked about Joy Division and The Smiths for a while. He is the only used vinyl shop in Green Bay and he was planning on moving his store back to a revitalized area downtown but, the management company is dragging it's feet. He has decided to move back to California.

He said he will be closing in April sometime and will be taking the vast majority of his library (including his ultra rare personal collection which fills the store walls and is 99% of the time not for sale). He said he will have a small sale for his loyal customers over the years though. If you guys are interested I can see if he will let me take some pics of his collection
    .

I just checked out some Electronic on YouTube. I dig it so far.

Its always a shame when a good record store closes. Only a few stores carry vinyl in my area and none of them have a large selection.

I know, first my favorite store closes in Milwaukee and now this. It is like fate is telling me that I shouldn't be a DJ.

I wish I was independently wealthy, I would just open my own shop.

I picked up these gems from a used record expo in Green Bay yesterday.

The Elliott Smith album is 180 gram and was still sealed.

It sounds much more intense than my CD.

I also have Either/Or and New Moon on 180 gram.

I've just started 'collecting' vinyl and I've got some must buys, a couple of the Elliott Smith albums are on that list.

So jealous! It's nice to actually see one in someone's hands.

I kind of dropped the ball on purchasing one. They are one of my favorite bands as well. I don't really have $250 to spend on vinyl though.
