This will be available for pre-order today

Brendan Kelly (of Lawrence Arms)/Joe McMahon (of Smoke or Fire) split called Wasted potential. Vinyl Collective pre-order comes with a one off coffee mug while the Anchor Records pre-order gets you colored vinyl. I don't really need any more coffee cups

Thats it, you win... GAME OVER

seriously when i heard about that split i was so excited. i love smoke or fire and the TLA/broadways/falcon blah blah blah. both awesome vocalists

    going to pre-order now.

oh and do you read brendan's blog? its pretty entertaining...

Thanks, actually I was talking to the dude at my local indie shop and brought it up, he said to bring it in, and if he can't make it go away he'll replace it. Pretty stoked on that.

that's awesome. most of the people at my local shop kind of suck. like I said I was in there yesterday looking for a couple things and the one dude just kind of said "I don't know when we will be getting it in" and just went back to what he was doing. The guy who runs the shop is super cool and is always really helpful but, every time I go in there he is usually on the phone doing orders and stuff so I have to wait to get decent help.

Buy your little enthusiast a Ferrari bike from me.

Picked this up this morning.... One of my favorite albums ever. It's a first pressing, and it still has the post cards that it came with! Picked it up for only $90 bucks.

I've got a bunch of high end vintage audio gear I'm clearing out, restored Marantz 4270 - better than new condition; Pioneer SX-5590, 8/10; Concept 16.5, 8/10 cosmetically - 10/10 function. Various high end vintage speakers: Rectilinear Research, AR, Kenwood, Infinity, McIntosh, Leslie 251. PM me for details, clearing out to finance home theater upgrade.

    Craigslist?

Random conversation with one of my professors about music, he said he had about 100 albums in storage for 15 years. He and his wife were trying to get rid of everything in their storage unit and told me I could have them if I could get them out!!

I prefer 180g vinyl, but my equipment really makes up for it, sometimes a little too much and becomes very revealing of how poorly the pressing/recording is.

Such a large percentage of new vinyl is pressed on 180g that I'd say about half my new records are 180g (so bout 25)

^nice, we tried unsuccessfully to get cheap tickets in Milwaukee the other night fort the gfs birthday. so we got drunk and sat in the hot tub.

This weekend in Milwaukee I was on a mission and I failed. I was trying to get the "Hustler: by Simian Mobile Disco but, I couldn't find the record anywhere. I should have just gone to Chicago and went to Gramaphone - they never disappoint.

    "
    I'm a hustler baby
That's what my daddy's made me

    Yeah I'm a hustler baby
That's what my daddy's made me

    I'm a hustler baby
That's what my daddy's made me

    Yeah I'm a hustler baby
That's what my daddy's made me

If I had the money to go to a record store
    I would
    I I would

If I had the money to go to a record store
    I would
    I I would

    Go to the record store
    Go to the record store
    Go to the record store
    Put records in my clothes

    Go to the record store
    Go to the record store
    Go to the record store
    Pass me back man

    Go to a record store
And put it in my clothes and
    Walk past that record man
Got to have the sticky hands

    You ass is broke
    You ass is broke
    Like me
    Like me

    Go to that record store
    Steal some record man
    Go to that record store
    Steal some records man

    I'm telling you I'm broke
    I'm telling you I'm broke
But I'm survivor than you that I can cope

    Yeah I'm a hustler baby
That's what my daddy's made me
    Yeah I'm a hustler baby
That's what my daddy's made me

    Yeah I'm a hustler baby
That's what my daddy's made me
    Yeah I'm a hustler baby
That's what my daddy's made me

    It's 8 o' clock
And I got nothing to do
    Can't go to the club
So I guess I go to the record store

    Visit my record man
    With my sticky hands
    Walk out that record door
Put your records in my clothes
    The records in my clothes

What the **** is you gonna do
What the **** is you gonna do
    About it
    Nothing

    "

So instead I found a couple little things to tide me over.

First up I have Piper Road Spring Band - Live
this is a live album from material recorded in the fall of 1979 and is a pretty rare record from a historic WI bluegrass band. My girl and I have seen this band paly about a dozen times so we were both rpetty excited about this score.

Buddy Miles Express - Booger Bear
the drummer for Jimi Hendrix' Band of Gypsy's Buddy Miles is a pretty talented guy and this is the second album of his I have found recently.

I also picked up The Dead 60's - Riot Radio b/w New Town Disaster 7"

A pair of Dangermouse remixes on 7":
Super Furry Animals - Lazerbeam & Bright Eyes - Easy/Lucky/Free
    (no image available online)

and finally I picked up LCD SOundsystem - Bye Bye Bayou 12"

Bought a couple records at a show this past week. Brother Ali vinyl is white, Freeway is a marbley green. Good deal for new records, $15 for vinyl and a download card...

I haven't bought too much lately, as I've realized just how out of hand my spending had gotten on them.

I may only have about 40 records, but I only had about 15 at the start of the year.

No, you're not the only one. I get mine from:

    http://www.musicdirect.com

I b1tched on getting the last Portishead on vinyl...too impatient, and it didn't sound close enough to the older stuff for me to drop $30-$70, or whatever that limited ed. box was going for.

So all this vinyl and no tube love? You guys are missin' out.

I don't know what your funds are like, and I'm not tryin to tell you how to live your life, but if you're on a budget, I'll pass on a tip my buddy gave me.

"Buy your toys 'before' you get married."

    "Standesign".

It's designed to be "filled", but its heavy as it is, and I don't listen too it loud enough to make that much of a difference.

As far as affording a tube amp, you could go with a tube pre-amp, and solid state amp, to get a similar effect. But not all tube amps, or amps for that matter, are created equal. Also, don't be afraid to buy used. The only piece I got new was the amp. and speakers. Same setup new would have been about the price of a small car. Again, all purchased "before" my girlfriend moved in.

LOL, it's not so much budget as priorities, considering my current set up is pretty awesome, it would only be an amazing step up. She actually understands this is a huge hobby for me and she enjoys it with me. I'm pretty lucky!!

Went by my favourite local indie shop yesterday, and dropped another C-note :S

Bon Iver, The Knife, Great Lake Swimmers, and I finally saw Neon Bible in the flesh so had to buy it.
