So here is my 1963 DC. I got the truck when I was 14 and it’s still not complete but I do drive and enjoy it as much as possible when the weather permits.
Not much is left stock on it any more; I started with a complete Porsche 944 rear suspension and 944 disc brakes all around. IRS transmission with 4.12 R/P. I built a 2007cc engine with all the goodies that puts down around 130 hp. 2" narrowed and adjustable front beam. Interior is more or less stock, a little gutted. The dash has been molested a bit to except a complete set of Porsche 356 gauges.
    Hope u guys like it

I love how the rusted bottom rear in the 'new' front cut still managed to match the adjoining rust out in the existing section.....only in a VW!!

    Great project.....great project.

I believe that Klassic Fab in Colombia is working on re-pop gates. That could be a good option for you. Check The Samba I guess for more info. It's amazing what Klassic Fab is popping out now to make bus resto viaable that even 5 years ago was totally unavailable. I wish now I still had my 59 single cab that really wasn't in THAT bad of shape - but when I sold it 17 years ago, the only option was to make your own replacement pieces.

    Holy schnikies!!!

I've met COUNTLESS adults that can't do that kind of clean and competent work (myself included).

Well, I guess you're an adult now... but to start that kind of project in your early teens??? Phenomenal.

You should be exceptionally proud of what you've done. Your truck is truly hardcore. Looking forward to seeing what you might also build in the future

Probably one of the best custom vans I've seen to this day. I would kill to have something like that one day!

Trust me, 3 years of work and still messing around on some stuff. It wasn't easy at all. I can honestly say i don't think i will try to tackle a project like that again any time soon.

I know this is an old thread, but I had to post.

Love what you've done with your bus. Quite a task cutting the whole face off a bus, but the end result is awesome. Im sure this thing is a real head turner
