Im at little late at making this here, but w/e. This last weekend at Blu808 in Campbell CA, I was getting a chromoly steel 4pnt roll cage welded into my GLi , before anyone wonders why Im doing this, the car is in the process of becoming a track car. This is only a hobby for me, and I know it is still a street car, but Im alright with it. I know there are people out there that will flame on me for this but its my car and I can do whatever I like lol.
THe car and its mods:

Bilstein PSS9's
Ground Control Camber/Caster Plates
Polyurethane LCA bushings
Hotchkis F&R sway bars 27mm front, 30mm rear
Bildon Internal axle-beam Sway Bar
Front Upper & Lower Stress bars
Rear Stress Bar
Schroth Ralleye Harness
4 Point Roll Cage, Chromoly Steel, Tig welded

4 Bar Fuel Pressure Regulator

VF Dog Bone Mount
Wheels:
ASA AR1 Black w/machined lip 17x8

Some of you may know who Luke is, and for those who dont he built the 2010 Formula Drift Camaro

and also has a 700whp turbo LS1 240 drift car.

Welding the cross beam in the Hoop

Hoop Completed with Harness Bar.

Test Fitting

Here is the cage completed and the interior put back in.
The cage was welded into on 1/4" steel plates where it touches the frame, so in the case of an actual role on the track it wont just go through the bottom of the car and do nothing.

Thanks for looking and look forward to hearing what you guys have to say about it.
Im going to get better quality pictures soon.

Righto. Go back to the stock or ditch the front sway though... and get drop spindles

I hear alot of people talk about not running front sway bars, ill have to try it sometime, though I love the way it handles right now, and again with the spindles. Im not sure if how much of a difference they will make I dont get no bump steer even at the worst of track, streets of willows is a pretty rough track. Trust me the spindles have been on my mind for a long while, I would love to drive someones car that has them.

Pretty sick, if I was spending all of that money I would probably have upgraded my snail. Nothing huge, but bigger none the less.

I haven't spend enough time in a MKIV to say for certain, but in terms of true performance I highly doubt there would be a performance increase in removing the front sway bar. Especially when he's already got a trunk, rear sway, and half cage. I can only assume that the car would have way too much rear bias.

Sure, on the street it might be fun to mess around with lift throttle oversteer, but he's tailoring his car for the track, not racer boy FWD dorifto.

BTW, pics don't do justice. That cage looks simply perfect in person.

Ill get some better pics here soon, I need to get my buddy with his fish eye over.

It cost me alittle under $800 which is roughly the price of a autopower and this is better for the money imo.

You want a picture of where each spot on the car the bars are welded, or just where the diagonals to the rear tire well are welded??
