do the helpers go above or below the springs...from my research some are above and some are below?

      who installed your coils?
because the helpers are supposed to go BELOW the main spring

Nope, I've just never seen them on top... My FK's (Powertech's) went on the bottom. They are long gone of course but that's where I thought they all were.

I think it's part of the window glass- at least I seem to recall that we determined that when the change came about.
There was some collective bitching, and then nothing more was spoken about it. I quite think it looks like ass, but the bean counters didn't ask for my opinion.

Correct. It's part of the window seal. You have to R&R the windows to get it... $$$$
I feel lucky to have them even though my car is black. The light colors look like hell without it IMHO.

are you spun all the way down in that photo?
if you don't need to go lower, there is no need to remove the helpers

i have the early version of fk (silverlines i think)
from what the PO has told me they arent even technically DOT approved

they belonged to hokie gti before me and hes posted pics tucking wheel if im not mistaken on 18's with the helpers still in

i think i have a pic of where the coils are right now in that last pic gimme a minute

I think they were non-TUV approved.
This was with about an inch of threads left and helpers still in. Tires resting snuggly on the liners. I don't know what the fender-to-ground measurement was but the tire size was 215/40/18 on 8.5" wheel.

yeah, the very early FK's allowed for an extreme drop with the helpers still in.
jay had them on his white rabbit and we could never figure out why he was able to get so low with the helpers still in
we finally figured out his kit was one of the first sets made

my theory...helper springs were smaller than the current versions.
