Yesterday played for 42 minutes and stopped just after I got You Monster achievement. Humor is still there and GLADOS's voice made me happy. LOVE THIS GAME

deffinately fun and i am enjoying the addition of new characters. Also glad to see it is long than the first that only takes me about 45 minutes to run through.

yeah me too. I completed Portal once on my old laptop with the track pad, that was difficult.

    Dammit.

My bank denied my card when Steam tried to run it... so I couldn't purchase this on Steam today.
And I know my card/account is good.

But... it does use the Steam cloud. You just need to link your PSN and Steam accounts by pressing select while in game. I played a few hours of co-op with the wife last night on the PS3 and my Steam version of Portal 2 already says I have 3 hours of play time.

Yeah, I figured it out. It updates it when you're in the main menu, and it looks like you needed to boot the game from the PC at least one time in order to get it working right. Whatever it is, it's working now.

    finnished the games last night.
i really enjoyed it, it is one of the only recent games ive played that has kept my attention span long enough to finnish it. i will say i think i enjoyed the original more for the puzzles vs story, but this one had some good brain teasers.

I agree. I'm REALLY enjoying it, but I feel that it's missing some of the mystique the first one had.

    Still, fun as S!

get the PS3 version, it comes with a code to download steam version

you link your PSN and steam accounts via an in-game menu on the PS3, this activates the steam download code. fire up steam, redeem code. throw away PS3 version or trade it in.

or keep it to play PC/PS3 cross-platform co-op, need to make a 2nd psn and steam accounts (cant play with yourself)

amazon has it for $60 (and you get a $15 amazon credit) and amazon trade-in value is $28

    60-15-28 = $17

or go buy it from bestbuy and trade it in.. 60-28 = $32 plus tax

Kinda disappointed on the single player. Beat it in about eight hours. I started going back and doing all of the single player achievements. Almost done with those and it's only about 10 hours of game play for single player just to do the story and screw around a little bit but mostly doing the story.

So far I haven't found any challenge maps from single player like there were for Portal 1 which is kinda sucky. I haven't played coop though and that should be fun.

Loving this game so far. Glad I've got a 4-day weekend starting tomorrow! I'm trying to avoid any spoilers in game reviews for this one. So, for those of you playing the co-op game how does it compare to single player... i.e., is it girlfriend-easy?

Finished it. Great game, but I felt it was a little too short. Also, I didn't expect them to reinvent the wheel, but I felt it was a little underwhelming compared to the first and it wasn't as difficult.

I just finished the SP and I have to disagree. I didn't think it was too short at all, especially compared to the first one. Honestly I thought it was over about halfway through the game and then surprise! And I thought the difficulty was just right. I really liked the challenges that the new items brought to the plate and it really made me think/look at things in the game differently.

I do think they should have included some challenge maps though like the first. I bet they will get added-on later knowing valve.

Also haven't even tried the co-op yet. Going away on vaca this weekend so that will have to wait until next week some day. Excited to try it though!

Do coop. I finally got to do coop last night. It's really fun doing it with somebody who hasn't done it yet because you get to laugh at each other as each other looks around the maps trying to figure it out. Then it's somethign simple and you both feel like idiots. :p Any ways. The coop looks like it's just as long as the regular single player game. I'm not 100% sure on that though. I've only gone through 2 out of what looks like 4-5 sets of challenges.

I agree, I haven't even beat the game yet, and it's already longer than Portal 1.

I expected the "campaign" to be somewhat easy, just like Portal 1. But once the mod tools are released there will be tons of cool, hard custom maps to play.

*Slight Spoilers*(if you havent got to the part of the game with the "new stuff")

So I just got to the part of the game where you use the gels. As most of us know Portal was not "created" by valve, but by students who were then hired by Valve(see: "Narbacular Drop").

Once again, what you have here is not an idea created by Valve, but by students who were then hired onto the Valve team.

They made this super sweet game: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tag:_The_Power_of_Paint

It's worth a play if you haven't played it, as it is slightly different from how Portal 2 uses the "gel". I recommend giving it a run.

I got a little way through single player but then started co-op 2 nights ago with a friend and continuned last night. wow this is fun. I had never played Portal 1 before so this is all new to me.

This game is a very welcome and needed mental break from the likes of Black Ops, Unleashed 2, and the Gears 3 Beta i've been playing recently.

the co-op is actually co-op. a lot of co-op games can use 2 people to accomplish something but 1 person could still do it. In this you HAVE to rely on both players and their brains and eyes to get through the levels. very rewarding experience for sure. and the things that GLaDOS says before and after levels are quite funny and had us both LOL'ing for real.

Ya, mine's a pro at LEGO and Beautiful Katamari.

We tried it last night. It was a rough start but all is good. The initial part of the tutorial with the LB is confusing and it wasn't clear at first if you both had to create each end of a single portal or not (might have been because we were talkiing too much). I had to Google the solution for the Intro level but afterwards the next 5 levels were fine.

really?! PC & xbox, PC & PS3, PS3 and Xbox? This has to be the first game to ever do this

You can cross-platform for PS3 and PC only, since they both use Steam. Xbox is unfortunately left out of the fun.

Shadowrun was the first I think, you can play on 360 against or with people on the computer version. Pretty damn cool

It would be really cool if the steam players on PS3 could play with the steam players on the PC. I'm not sure if that works or not but it would be the first cross platform gaming between PC and console.

  32. 04-24-2011 08:59 PM #67
PS3 version of Portal 2 has Steam on PS3 where you can save your PS3 game progress on the Steam Cloud and play parallel with PC version of the game in the campaign mode. You can play against or with PC/Mac players on PS3 and vice-versa. Supposedly, Xbox 360 version of the game will be left out of the all the fun the PS3 version will get/have because of the Steam integration where you can upload modded maps and guns etc etc.

I've played against a PC player and experienced no lag, but the next morning...PSN Apocalypse.

That's pretty frigging awesome that you can play with PS3 people on the PC. I've been waiting a long time for this. Finally the epic battle between joystick players and mouse+keyboard players will ensue. I'm gunna rape some faces when they do something like Bad Company or some other FPS. I have so many console friends that play FPS's and say they could beat me.

Sorry... just kinda exciting that they are finally doing that. I don't know why they didn't years ago.
